4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This was at Festival Foods in east Appleton, in the case. I thought to myself, they’re definitely talking winter solstice, but I’d better pick it up anyway because I can store an Impy and see what it’s like come February when it’s actually more appropriate to drink this style.
5 minutes after I get home I crack one open :)
Rich aroma of coffee, cocoa, a little nuttiness. Flavor is strong, with a lot of different tastes running around. It’s busy but good, and the presence of alcohol taste (bourbon maybe?) reminds me not to drink them all in one sitting.
And so the other 5 go into storage till winter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mildly opaque reddish brown with a minimal tan head. Some darker berries, coffee, caramel. A decent bit bitter, plenty of sweetness, but dry through the finish. Heavier body, some carbonation, reasonably long finish. Quite oily. Good.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours opaque brown with a light brown head. Aroma is biscuit or cracker and roast. Flavour is sharp and metallic and almost too crisp. The body seems too thin for an imperial stout and doesn't hide the alcohol well. Finish is dark chocolate and roast bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Opaque dark brown pour, creamy khaki colored head. Smells of strong burnt coffee. Great flavor, hints of cocoa, oats and a bit nutty. This had just the right amount of bitterness. Flavor improved as this warmed.
This was purchased as one of a "pick your own six pack", so I’m not sure of the price, but this will go on the "buy again" list. Damn good beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark black with a frothy khaki head with good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, roast, leather and some umami with a hint of soy. Taste is a mixture of chocolate and roast with an ashy and savory character. Finishes dry with a bit of roasty, earthy bitterness. Semi creamy mouthfeel, full body and moderate carbonation. Not bad but flavors border on being harsh.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Acadia with blondredhead. Pint glass. Deep cola brown. Tannish head. Aroma is rich and has a heavy coffee lean to it. Some chocolate notes too. Mouthfeel is smooth and velvety with nearly a light chocolate milk feeling. Taste has warm chocolate undertones with a ever present coffee characteristic. Little bit of a peat element bringing to mind bourbon. Really enjoyable warmth to this beer with a roasted malt nuttiness that I’m loving. This one surprised me. Very, very good.
