2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 NobleSquirrel (3286) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 14, 2010Bottle from Badger Liquors in Madison. Pours black enough, slight brown around the edges. Head is tan, though not a lot of darkness to it. Nose is somewhat boozy and phenolic with roasted grains. On taste, under-attenuated, somewhat cloying and sweet. Not horrible but not worth drinking again...

Pours a muddy brown with small head and little lacing. Woody, boozy with some coffee up front and dark chocolate toward that back. Roasty malt. Some mildly grassy hops in the back of it. Medium bitterness. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Long finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 oneeighthcuban (88) - - APR 12, 2013
The smell is a little dull, smells like chocolate. Flavor is a little thin but solid. I would like to try a higher, thicker more alcohol content version of this.

Chocolate roasty flavors with a note of licorice. Very sweet flavor and smooth texture. Lingering bitterness with a bit of licorice flavor at the end.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 niday2288 (68) - - APR 4, 2013
Pour is dark brown almost blacksmith a thin tan head. Nose is malt, coffee, toffee, hints of dark chocolate and molasses. Taste is nutty upfront and has decent hop bitterness which also comes across as burnt coffee. Bitterness lingers a bit more than I would like. No real sweetness like the nose. Mouthfeel is medium and not as thick and viscous as other imperial stouts. Overall it's ok. Wouldn't buy a full six of this but an ok choice for a mix and match.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ccex (791) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 12, 2013
12 oz bottle pours a very dark brown with small tan head and only a little lacing. Aroma has chocolate, coffee, cherries, roasted malts, and some fruits. Taste is initially smoky and sweet with a slightly bitter finish. Body is Medium to full with active carbonation. Mouthfeel is creamy, despite the carbonation. This is easily drinkable with no problems. I call this one a very good stout, but as others have mentioned, do not consider it an Imperial Stout. Still this is one I’ll gladly try again no matter how it’s classifed.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Atom (987) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 7, 2013

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 drjay44 (2125) - Salida, Colorado, USA - MAR 4, 2013
12 oz. bottle, compliments of Zach. Pours a well retained beige head, with some lacing, over a dark brown to black (SRM 35) body.....nose is coffee, cocoa, chocolate, light vinous tones....taste is coffee, chocolate, light fruits including pear, apple, raisin, moderately sweet toffee/caramel tones, finishing with a moderate roasted malt, hop bitterness.....mouth feel medium, alcohol hidden, carbonation low adding a moderate tingle. This is a pleasant, nicely balanced beer, but it does not have the rich complexity of the best in this style. It is a bit more of a Foreign Stout rather than an Imperial Stout. BJCP7/3/13/4/7
