COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This smooth, creamy stout and a crackling fireplace are the perfect answer to a wintry evening in Wisconsin. The rich coffee flavor compliments the "warm, fuzzy feeling" you get from the abundant alcohol. Seasonal Nov. - April.

Poured black with a large long lasting creamy dark tan head. Roasted malt aromas. Coffee, chocolate, and tobacco ash and alcohol as it warmed. Flavor continues with the roastedness. Malty, sweet, and a moderate hop finish. Medium bodied and creamy with a nice warming sensation.

May 28, 2012 bottle from Four Firkins I think. Dark brown pour with some head and lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate in the aroma. Taste was roasted malt, chocolate, and finishes with some licorice. Medium to full bodied but not quite as smooth as I like with impy stouts.

A - pours dark dark coffee brown with absolutely zero head. S - aromas of burned sugar (not caramel) and rich toasted grains (dog food to be precise). Hints of molasses and caramel. M - medium bodied short lived palate. Toasty and strong to a weak watery end. Dry. T - coffee, toasted sugars, caramel and molasses up front. Lightly bitter. Notes of grains and graham crackers in the end. Burned malts throughout. O - sub par aromas to reasonable tastes, so far my least favorite imperial stout. 6 had a hard time rating this, thought 3.2 or so but the numbers I want to give it equal 2.7. I'm splitting the difference. 3

Extra from Beersis Pours light black (reddish hughes) and a small tannish head. Smell is chocolate and sugar, caramel. Taste is great, espresso and dry chocolate, roasty through the roof. Decent stout.

A: I was unable to create much of any head on this beer but what little did form was of an light brown color. This beer is of a murky brown color without much carbonation. S: Smells like brown sugar and dark fruits such as raisins and figs. It does also have some syrup or molasses on the nose. I also pick out some smokey coffee and chocolate at the end. There is a faint whiff of alcohol. T: Upon initial taste I get bitter chocolate, sweetness from a molasses taste and a mild coffee. There is also some roasted taste and a toffee taste. On the back end there is some hop bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden. M: For an imperial stout this is thin on the mouth. It feels slick but not oily and viscous like I imagine a beer of this style to be. Even though I describe this as thin it does coat my mouth and lingers until the next sip. O: Even though this doesn’t hit all boxes that I expect in an imperial stout it is rather enjoyable. It isnot over powering in any one aspect and that makes it well rounded for me. A rather easy drinker for an imperial stout.

Originally reviewed: 5/4/10. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dirty brownish-black. No light shows through. A good inch-sized mocha head caps it off. Leaves some decent lace after each sip. Pretty. Scents of vanilla, sweet cream, baker’s chocolate, and a light whiff of booze on the end. The body is thin at times, but overall retains a nice creamy smoothness. Not chewy at all. Carbonation level is low-to-moderate. There’s plenty of roasted goodness to go around with this offering. Some bittering chocolate on the frontend, with some light creamed-coffee in the middle, and finishes semi-sweet with light cocoa and vanilla. I’m not sure this is exactly fitting for the style. To me this was more like a regular Am. Stout, or a heavy Porter, but either way, this was plenty delicious and plenty drinkable.

Tan head. Pitch black color. Caramel toffee fruit alcohol nose. Roasted malt chocolate and coffee flavor. Surprisingly light. Long warm finish.

I was told this is the base beer for their BA stout. Either that was a lie or those barrels do magically things to this beer... Pours a very dark brown with edges of coffee/ruby red. Brief, latte head. Decent lacing. Smells of sweet malts, hard water, subtle chocolate, pretty subdued. The taste is no more powerful - big on the iron/hard water, tasty malts, no discernible hop presence. This is highly drinkable, especially for an Imperial Stout, but that’s not what I was looking for. Won’t buy again.

Nice beer. Feels lively and sugary for an imperial. Looks like molten syrup in the light.

From old notes. Black pour with thin tan head. Notes of coffee and dark roasts. Taste is same. Not nearly as complex as many impys. Just ok.
