Loved how this one looked. A great scot ale that was dark without being too thick. Lots of great lacing. Roasted oats, chocolate, yeast, burlap. Warming. Could have a higher ABV; I like a bit more kick here. But good.

12oz bottle in a thistle. Pours dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of caramel and toffee from the malts, a little roasted and chocolate notes, and some floral hops. Flavor the same. Average to smooth texture. A nice, malty beer.

Pours a dark ruby brown with an active tan head. Darned near opaque. Lots of sweetness in the aroma. Taste is toffee, caramel and some roasted maltiness. Long residuals in the creamy palate. Quite excellent!

Should we quibble that this Scottish Ale comes from a region thatís solidly Norwegian with a few Germans and Poles to round out the ethnic mix? I think not. Itís a full-flavored malt-dominated ale that foams up nicely above a near ruby red color. Central Waters is almost always at its best when they let the malts do the talking.

Pour is a thick brown with almost no head at all. Aroma is some super sweet molasses and caramel malt. Flavor is dark fruit with some brown sugar and salt water taffe. I donít get much peat but this is all about the heavy dark malt. Flavorful beer and a mild alcohol presence for the style.

Deep brown with a tannish brown head. Malty, nutty, a bit sweet, and earthy. Pine, toast, and hops. An interesting, balanced flavor.
