pretty decent stout but not much a big fan of the heat in the throat. Pretty tasty though. I would like to have my stout with pepper flavors and no heat. Its not hot my any means but it not everyone’s cup of tea. still try it if it was on tap or something.

Opaque black. Cinnimon kaki head. Dark choc cocoa aroma with a hint of pepper spice. Taste is rich smooth malt chocolate, mellow roast, nothings harsh. Then a heat and some herbal and dark malts in finish. Lingering mellow heat.

Nice pepper stout. Good balance between heat and chocolate sweetness. Aged quite a mild which probably helped mild it out. Tasty.

Bottle aged over a year in my beer cellar. Black pour with a nice khaki head that lasts and laces well. Nice aroma, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and just a dash of a pepper. Great flavor, a good melding of coffee, chocolate, roast, and pepper in the finish. Smoothed in the aging.

Bottle... Pours murky and dark brown with a small, creamy, khaki head. Great retention. The nose features burnt malts, fudge, charcoal and chili peppers. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor is a well-integrated collection of charcoal, 85%-cacao chocolate, espresso and chili pepper heat, and a lightly sweet note of caramel. Lengthy, charcoal and chili pepper finish. Bomber from a while back. Nice toasty malt flavor with lots of red fruit and berry sort of flavors. Spice is still there and complementary. Solid but a little thin compared to the big boys in this area.

Pours black with small tan head that dissipates. Nice subtle nose of roasted malt. Front pallet taste of very slight burnt malt and some sweetness with some pepper taste that lingers in the back of the throat until the next sip. This is a sipping beer that provides a continual medium pepper burn and the lip feel you get from a higher alc. beer.

This sucked. I can’t believe the ratings. Thin, not much going on, one dimensional. Then a throat burn at the end to kick it off from the pepper. Drain pour. Bob agrees.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, light smoke/char, light licorice/raisin, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light-moderate chili pepper notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, light smoke/char, light licorice/raisin, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness and pepper spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate chili pepper flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and pepper spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present; with light-moderate pepper warmth after the finish. Overall this is an incredible pepper spiced imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate chili pepper flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV and well balanced pepper heat/spice. A highly enjoyable offering.

650ml bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa, cellar aged for 8 months
and served at cellar temperature. Black pour with a brown head leaving
spotty lacing. Nose has caramel, chocolate and some vegetal. Later
in the glass, there is some peppers in the nose and more strong
chocolate. Taste is of sweet caramel, hot peppers, molasses and some
bakers chocolate. Down through the glass, the heat dissipates, and
some coffee shows through to join the chocolate and caramel. Pepper
presence is still there, but a bit more muted. Full bodied and hot early. Hard to tell the alcohol presence. Finishes peppery and more sweet than bitter Cannot say if drinking earlier would have helped to calm the peppers, or if another year plus of aging would have helped. That chocolate/caramel/spicy pepper blend is interesting. 13.7
