JohnnyOS (649), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Jan 29, 2008 Pours light amber with red highlights. Aroma of a cherry and yeast with some bourbon. Flavor to match, but a little tart and more cherry. Skyview (3142), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jan 28, 2008 On draught at the brewery’s taproom in Amherst, Wisconsin. This was the second exclusive anniversary brew I sampled during the Central Waters’ 10th Anniversary Party. Pours a hazy pinkish amber brew with a thick white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of tart cherry and bread malt, with some light bourbon character, a slight barnyard yeast funk and citrusy hops. Taste is semi-tart, medium bodied and some carbonation with flavors of tart cherries, a little bourbon, vanilla, coconut and some white bread malt. Finish has a lingering tart aftertaste that quickly turns into a smooth bread and yeast bourbon flavor with plenty of alcohol warmth. A fine complex tripel by a brewmaster who knows how to master the barrel aged brews.
