Dorwart (1678), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jun 22, 2008 Thin head of fine bubbles which disappeared rather quickly. Light wheat and grassy aroma with some spicy notes ans some banana. Color is a hazy dark orange. Light body. Good bit of tartness in there which makes the mouth salivate. Soft malts, some tea and a bit of orange. Bit gritty also. FInishes tart and a bit roasty. This brew is all over the place. Not real good in my opinion.
troyc (1046), Lubbock, Texas, USA Dec 17, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a hazy golden color with a nice amount of white head and suspended yeast. Aroma of banana and clove is somewhat muted compared to other beers in the style. Taste includes lots of wheat malt and light bubble gum notes, but the body is on the weak side. Grainy finish. Pretty much a middle of the road weizen. FlacoAlto (2251), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 18, 2008 A vigorous pour musters an almost three-finger thick, pale tan colored head in my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is quite clear with an amber-copper hue, but shows a touch of haze and an orange-gold color when held up to the light. The aroma smells of cloves, aromatic fruit and bananas up front with dry, wheat-grain notes becoming more prominent towards the end. Aroma is decent, it does not have any off notes, but does seem to be lacking that little extra nudge to get it to greatness.

Clove flavors and lightly sweet grain up front produce some sweetness before the carbonation kicks in (as it is rolling across the tongue). The carbonation dries things out a bit and provides a bit of a peppery bite. This has a decent body to it, light enough to be drinkable, but with a bit of a silky texture that I like to find at least some of in a good Weizen. This finishes with a touch of wheat tartness as well as some lingering clove phenolics. There is also a touch of apple like fruitiness here as well as a touch of cracker like grain.

A decent example of a Hefe Weizen. It could use a bit more grain complexity and texture (would asking for a decoction mash be too unreasonable?), but this is certainly serviceable if one is in the mood for a Weizen. noncaloric (247), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 13, 2008
Comes off better viewed as a witbier than a hefe. Grass and coriander on the aroma. Beatiful pour, slightly hazy medium amber with about two fingers of white head, continuous sparkle. Leaves sheets of lace down the glass. Coriander at the front, grainy malts, with a bit of tart citrus before a finish that somehow both clean and bready. Some banana and gumball emerge as it warms up. Juicy palate. Juelze (761), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours a hazy yellowish color with moderate white head. Aroma is light banana, coriander, yeast and some peculiar note I didn’t care for. Taste is a bit mild IMHO for a hefeweizen. I got some coriander and light banana, but not what I would expect from a typical German hefe. Meh. highibus (301), Vail, Arizona, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours a cloudy almost burnt orange color with thin white head. Aroma of spice and sweetness. Flavor is up front mashed fruit and yeast. Alot of things going on. Pretty nice for not being my fav style. Well rounded and I swear I pick up quite a bit of hops for some reason. Not bad.
