3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, - FEB 9, 2004
Bottled. Jet black stout with a full beige head that falls away considerably. Rich, dark, dark aromas escape as the bottle is opened. Really dark this. Aromas or dark stone fruit cherries and blood plums but super concentrated and only just coming through the black malt richness. The flavour is a slightly less impressive. Whilst its opening is fine the middle and later sections of the flavour fall away sharpishly leaving the beer with a fairly mediocre finish.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s "Has anyone seen my stool?" tasting. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of strange fruit and flowers with a touch of moss. Tastes of moss and general countryside type stuff. It’s like something that would come out of a small river. Not fun.

31st July 2010. ChrisOs Pre GBBF - ’Raise The Roof’ tasting. Clear dark brown beer with a little tan head. All downhill from there - sourish nose. Dusty watery malt accompanied by some weird and horrible tastes (I think Mes said ’moss’ and that fits). Finishes dry. Horrible!

Bottle Conditoned, 500ml. Jet black with tan head. This is a very decent dry stout indeed. Chalky, burnt and full with chocolate undertone. Finishes with a good hop note. Lovely.
