3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (5147) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2009
Bottle, ’Bica velha’ , Loulé. Reddish gold with a high uneven head of foam persisting until the tulip’s drained. Candy sweet aroma with hay and slight fruit, wheat maybe. Fuller and fruitier than bog standard sardine beater, with candy, hay, corn, wheat and very slight peardrop esters that had me thinking it might even be....non-Portuguese in origin. (blind tasting). Moderate hop bitterness to finish. Decent, for what it is.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 drpimento (1750) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 22, 2006
Eh, not too bad. Brought it back with me from Lisbon, Portugal this summer. Does have a bit of bitter hop character(hence the "Holland Type" on the label). Pours with a head that’s almost gone now. no lace. Pale yellow/gold color. decent carbonation. Nose is a little off: some chlorine/mineraly characteristics along with some good beery aromas. Much better good and cold or if the drinker is good and thirsty. Taste and body are ok.

Quite nice for a low budget Spanish lager. Nothing extraordinary - hoppy and grainy taste, slightly bitter end.
