3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Bottle at Dragon’s Palate in Cusco. Nondescript aroma with no discernible wheat aspect. Hazy gold body with nice whispy white head. Serviced ice cold. I detect a hint of hops!! Label says "limited edition" but menu said available as a seasonal Jan-May. Really nice flavor. Some wheat comes through in the flavor. A pleasant surprise. I also like the fact that the bottle and the Cusquena glass it was served in have relief impressions of the ancient Inca stone walls that are ubiquetous in Cusco.

620ml, from Wong supermarket, Peru.
Nice fresh aroma of citrus, cereal and herbs. notes of Banana hints at a fruity taste.
Nice opaque white robe of Belgian whites, medium carbonation creating a nice light neck that lasts (not very long, but does not disappear in 5min!).
Medium sweet, a little bitter taste, medium body, with a creamy texture. A nice long refreshing finish. This is by far my favourite beer from this brewery and a great white from a mass consumption beer. Only available during south american summer.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 GT2 (3961) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 5, 2011
330mL found in a hole in the wall store in Salinas (the salt plains in the Sacred Valley outside Cusco, Peru). There is a little convenience store here that sells artisanal salt mostly to Japanese tourists. They have Cusquena de Trigo (wheat). I never saw it anywhere else in Peru. The pour is a fully hazy bright yellow with a massive, bright white head. Huge retention and big sheety lace. Looks like sediment at the bottom. Definitely unfiltered and looks like it was bottle refermented. Nose is candy corn, sugar, sickly grain. Taste is sweet, sugar, lemon, bland overall with some "sting" of sharp cereal grain. Soapy palate. Not much bread, dough, or density. As it warms it gains sourdough and loses metallic flavors. Very small banana and dough component. Ends up being pretty refreshing and fuller in body. Not bad. Definite something worth seeking out to get away from all the lagers.

Bottled@Monks Café Sveavägen, Stockholm. Slightly hazy yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma is wheat, mmild bananas as well as some sweet malty and grainy notes. Flavour is wheat, mild banana, some cardboard as well as some spices. Refreshing, but thin as for the palate.

A slightly hazy gold. Pretty much another light yellow beer with a sweet edge and a bit of hefeweiss wheat and spice.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mabjork (655) - Vasa, FINLAND - JAN 31, 2010
Cusqueña de trigo (edicion limitada), 5%. Bottled. Light and semi transparent in color, hazy, minor bubbly head. There is almost a wheaty scent to it. The flavor is malty, has a wheat beer feel to it (trigo malteado seleccionado, cebada malteada, agua pura y natural y lupulo) but not quite. It’s very refreshing a hot night in Mancora. I really liked this one.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 bkurtz (462) - PERU - JUL 25, 2009
Poured a slightly cloudy golden with a big fluffy head. It has some qualities of a wheat beer, nice and refreshing with a lime, but lacks complexity and character. Great that Cusceno for trying something new in Peru.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ha1ag (610) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - APR 25, 2009
from a street store in Lima, bottled 330ml. Very nice looks, non-transparent golden color, visible carbonation, HUGE fluffy head, proper lacing. Nose is yeasty and like hefes. Aroma starts as a nice hefe with complex yeasts but quickly flattens out and flavour is quickly diminshing. Grassy finish. Could be a fine beer if the flavour would be more emphasized.

Really hard to find, but nice in aroma and appearance. Although it had no taste at all.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AmazonMatt (285) - PANAMA - MAR 1, 2009
I really enjoyed this treat that my wife brought back from Peru. It is refreshing and simple, perfect for the tropical heat of Panama. Less complexy and esery than true German hefes, but light, and grassy and truly refreshing. Not cloying, not full, I drank the whole 660 ml before the bottle got cold in near 90 degree tropical heat. Perhaps made for a mass market, but quite drinkable. I wish that I had more.
