2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
I had this in the Airport in Lisbon, Portugal and was expecting a low end local beer. This beer has almost a fruit flavor but with a lot more going on. The head is medium but stays around for a long time as you drink it. I was pleasantly surprised, but still not on the high end of a stout. Definitely worth a try.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
As one could expect, it has absolutely nothing in common with stout beers. Howver, albeit watery, its definitely an enjoyable dunkel with cool roasted notes and coffee-like, creamy finsh. Nice surprise in Portugal.

Bottle (330ml). Courtesy of ImperialJohn. Thick oily-looking black pour, large fluffy lasting tan head, nice drapes of thin lace. Light aroma, but deep roasted malt, very lactic and sweet. Incredibly thin taste, sweet and syrupy, definite metal and a wan finish - light body, still, sweet and slick, quick-finishing and quite a let-down.

Appearance: Very dark brown, almost black. Dark head, not too much of it, though.
Aroma: Roasted, burnt. Malt, some chocolate.
Taste: Malty, a bit burnt. Bit boring, not much to it. Slightly bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloth bag, Hunstanton. Almost pitch with clinging tan suds. Genuine sweet charcoal, burnt malt, slightly curranty aroma. Milky coffee, chocolate, a chew of dark fruits. The most rounded and serious Iberian interpretation of a dark beer Iíve tasted. If it was a roasty smooth chocolatey English mild Iíd give it at least 3.5, so thatís exactly what itís getting. Against all expectations, a really tasty, well-conditioned beer.

Bottle. Bought in Macau. I notice that sugar is one of the ingredients. Thatís pretty unusual. It tastes pretty sweet and isnít all that bocky. Itís only 5%abv. Sticky with lots of malt - itís more like a dunkel or porter. Very enjoyable. Didnít detect much hops. Enjoyed while wandering around Macauís Fortress de Guia.

This was not a bad beer at all, but I canít say Iíve had anything else from this brewery. Found it at Penafidelis, a Portuguese cafe around the square from Moeder Lambic in the Brussels neighborhood of Saint-Gilles. Poured a nearly impenetrable black with a tall, tan head. Faint, sweetish, roast-malt nose with some fruity notes. Lightly sweet flavor (again, those dark fruit notes) with a thin layer of dark-roast bitterness (weak, black coffee) that carries the finish. Thin for a stout, but thick for a dunkel. Average carbonation. Quaffable, in the end.
