COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate malt; Sugar; Colour -E150C; Hops.
Launched in 2003.
"Super Bock Stout is a black beer, produced from special malts which give it a distinct flavour and aroma, and a long-lasting creamy head. It differs from the other black beers on the market because it is richer in extract, more full-bodied and with a more complex (almost fruity), not-so-roasted taste and aroma."

Pours dark brown. Smells of roasted malts and some coffee. Flavor is similar to the aroma but watery.

This is stout that is no stout at all. Even for schwarzbier is too watery. But smells nice - aroma of coffee and roast, but weak.

Standard and a bit watery schwarzbier. Not very special, but good for a Portugese beer.

Fra flaske, fra den lokale købmand i Mandrem, Goa. Brunlig sort med ok beige skum. Maltet duft af pumpernickel og Bassets vingummi. Kun meget let ristet, let krop. Karamel, let brændte figner i lage. Ok, men nærmere en schwartzbeer end en stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In Portugal and fed up of lager I decided to give this a whirl. Not a stout in any way shape or form, a black lager. Which is fine. Who wants to drink Guinness when itís 30 degrees in the shade anyway?! A bit of burnt coffee, a bit of sweetness, not much else. Thin but still refreshing enough to be enjoyed in the roasting weather. An enjoyable alternative to the ubiquitous lagers of the algarve.

Not a stout at all. Expected a lot more of this one. Too bad. Black beer with some malts.

(20 cl bottle imported from Madeira) Pours dark brown with little tan head that recedes quickly leaving rings along the sides of the glass. Aroma is roasted malty with a touch of noble hops. Oily texture, medium body, soft carbonation and a slightly sweet finish. Flavour is balanced with an ascerbic edge. Decent but nothing special.

Bottle in Lisboa. It pours deep ruby with a thick beige head. The nose is soft roast, coffee grinds, toast and cocoa. The taste is watery, earth, toast, roasted malt, cocoa and coffee grinds with a dry finish. Light+ body and average carbonation. Rather thin and no great depth to it. So-so.

330ml bottle from BeersOfEurope website (£1.39):
Dark malts with some brown sugar and a sweetness & caramel. Roasted barley, coffee & dark malts follow with chocolate.
Dark, opaque brown with a thin head that is tan coloured and bubbly.
Sweet and there is the sugar and some of the roasted malts from the nose. There is a little liquorice and some chocolate but again not a lot and it is rounded of with some roasted malts.
Sweet, medium in body with a bland and watered down feel somewhere around the middle. Itís not all bad though, the beer was easy to drink and is quite smooth too.

Started really well but whilst still drinkable, the taste didnít fully back up the look or the smell of the beer. Mainly roasted malts, sweetness and some chocolate but it was a smooth and easy to drink offering so I wonít complain too much.
