3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Black as a wizards sleeve but not as filled with tricks. Bit lacking of anything really interesting. Not terrible, drinkable but about as memorable as an erm thing. Bastards at my local bottle shop put it with the lovely hardcore strong stouts which fooled me into buying it. Childrens drink.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20
Consumed in Portugal - The aroma was subdued but a slight malt aweetness was present. A brownish-black pour with a nice cappacino head and minimal lacing. The taste was pleasing, but not robust. Caramel with a slight bitterness in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a better beer than I was expecting.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Almost totally black with a short lived frothy brown head. Aroma is sweet and a little malty. Taste is sweet and roasty with a slight bitter finish. Not bad but it’s probably a stretch calling it a stout probably more a Dunkel. Overall not bad but lacks character.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. The aroma is malty, light smell of coffee. The head disappears immediately, the body is black. The taste is light bitter, nice malty and light taste of coffee. The body is light to medium strong, lively and light creamy with a lot of carbonation. A good light Stout.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a medium to deep brown with a small light tan head. Aroma is a bit cocoa and a bit of a roasty malt note, though both are very faint with some sweet candy caramel but a touch metallic. Flavor is much more chocolately, especially in the finish with some of the caramel and biscuit and honey coming through as well. The cocoa fades quickly out of the finish. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Not awful, drinkable but its funny they name it a stout.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A creamy but at the same time not so heavy beer. A dark beer for the not so cold days of the portuguese winter.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Poured just shy of black, nose was roasty and nutty, tasted thin and limp, but very drinkable for the style

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark colour with a beige head that lasts nicely through the glass. The roasted malt flavour you’d expect from a stout is there, but is quite light, leaving it feel slightly watery. Hints of vanilla and caramel with a slightly annoying fruity twang in the aftertaste. Not great by the standards of a stout.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smooth, mild-mannered Portuguese stout. This would make a nice intro to stout for drinkers who think they’re too bitter and aggressive (er, stout, not the drinkers). This has nice balance - not too sweet, not too bitter. It looks good, but the brewer adds a colourant, so that’s scarcely surprising. It’s a deep stout brown with a 1cm tan head that laced but receded a bit quickly for the style. The aroma showed dry bitter chocolate and coffee liqueur. Fairly fizzy in the mouth, softening to a mild creamy finish. Bit overcarbonated. Flavourwise, it’s at the milder end of the stout scale. Sweet and malty, with faint chocolate and vanilla notes. Could use a bit more bitterness in the finish, but overall this is very drinkable. (33cl bottle, IBS, Perth)
