Aroma: coffee, caramel; Appearance: dark brown, foamy head; Taste: slight sourness, slight bitterness; Palate: abrupt finish, soft carbonation, slick texture
Not as great as Koestrizer but a decent Schwarzbier still.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2016 From a 330ml bottle on 26/8/2015. Pours a very dark brown with the smallest of heads. Has a moderate but quite distinct chocolate/caramel malt aroma. In the mouth, it’s sweet and malty, with lots of chocolate, finishing with a modest bitterness. The palate is slightly creamy and the carbonation average. Imo, this is much better than the ratings suggest. It’s not super complex but it’s quite tasty and eminently quaffable. Actually pretty good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 6, 2013 Brown with a small beige lace. Roasted malts, yeasty, light sweet hints, nuts. Pretty refreshing still, but with some nutty flavour. Bit sticky maybe and straightforward, but better than expected. (33cl bottle at a Valencian restaurant)
Very dark brown, light tan head. Very sweet aroma, wort, cheap liquorice candy. Light bitter , moderate burned malts. Soft carbonation, sticky ending. Clean and boring, more of a dunkel. Okay, bit sweet. (30cl tap at Cavas de Cervejas)

Mid brown pour with dissipating tan head. Subtle chocolate aroma flows onto the palate. Hints of charcoal and coffee with the chocolate. Creamy finish.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20
Consumed in Portugal - The aroma was subdued but a slight malt aweetness was present. A brownish-black pour with a nice cappacino head and minimal lacing. The taste was pleasing, but not robust. Caramel with a slight bitterness in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a better beer than I was expecting.

Smell and taste malts, lightly dusty, a bit grainy, light brown candy sugar, lightly dark malts, soft to average malt bitter finish. Average body and carbonation. Decent.
