3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled from supermarket in Albufeira, Portugal. Black appearance, small brown head. Malty nose, caramel, roasted, some liquorice. Very sweet flavor, lots of liquorice, some malts. Little bit bitter in finish. Seems like the Portugese equivalent of Dutch ’oud bruin’. I like it, though it seems closer to a sweet stout than a dunkel.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle from Kaubamaja, Tallinn. Pours pretty much black with a rather small, beige head. Moderate roasty aroma with chocolate, dark fruits and caramel. Medium sweet with mild, but quite pleasant flavours and a fairly light bitterness. Did enjoy it more in Portugal some ten years ago, but it’s still a fairly beer and still one of the best I’ve tried from Portugal.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Dark body, medium tan head. Aroma has old coffee and some leather. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet roasty taste with some dark malts. This is so fizzy that it’s hard to pinpoint the flavours here - it could very well be some sort of Pepsi or Cola drink. I can detect some powdery cocoa in the finish if I try hard. Interesting choice of brand name here - when I think of the name "Super Bock" I can picture a bunch of old hobos sipping a 12% malt likka on a hot summer’s day...but definitely not a Schwarzbier from Portugal.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ Mata Bicho, Leiria. Black body, large dense nitro-like creamy light beige head. Nose is dark chocolate, mild coffee, cocoa and hints of grains and nuts. Taste is dark malts, chocolate, mild coffee and hints of bread and nuts. Light to medium creamy body, medium carbonation. Pretty decent for a Schwartzbier, but no winner all in all.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: A strangely refreshing toasted-nutty dark ale lacking body.
How: Tap at Museu da Cerveja, Lisbon Portugal.
The look: Clear dark brown body topped by a persistent small tan head.
In long: Nose is surprisingly decent considering the brand and low ratings, I noted brownies cake and walnuts along with light-color fruity notes. Body is very thin with a very active carbonation, typical macro-like mouthfeel. Taste is a letdown. There toasted nuts, lime, celery, mild acidity, no hops presence at all. Everything feels watered down. The beer is rather easy to drink but it is also uninteresting. And while I was drinking at Museu da Cerveja I witnessed something quite disturbing when I saw what, frankly, could only be described as someone enjoying a Portuguese beer.

Not a stout, despite what the title claims, but it did have some roasted malt flavour

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 330ml bottle poured in a chalice.
I would call it "an almost good beer". :p
A: Pours a black color and a huge aired tan head that dissipates quickly leaving a small layer and some lacings
S: Roasted malts
T: Taste is disappointing. Too light and watery. Where’s the roasted malts bitterness? My suggestion to Super Bock is: Please remove some water from it
M: Quite light body and reasonable carbonation. Lack bitterness
D: Average. Too smooth for a beer claimed "Stout"

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 4C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L2617741. AROMA: faint roastiness aromas with some odd artificial aroma. low malt profile with no esters and no diacetyl. APPEARANCE: deep brown color and opaque. medium light brown head with average retention. TASTE: low roasted flavour that lingers into the finish. low bitterness and hop flavours. clean lager profile. finishes medium-dry. PALATE: light body with average carbonation. OVERALL: altough the label says "Stout", this is indeed an average Schwarzbier (a case of improper advertising?) that could loose the E150c.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
300ml bottle (Tolly,Tartu)
Looks great, black with a huge dark tan head, fairly persistent. Doesn’t smell stout, this is a lager, right? Fairly nice though, sweetish roast. Some weirdness in taste initially, dodgy esters, but it settles down to a nice roast. Smoothish sweet palate. Gentle deep roast burnt finish. Nice schwarz.
