0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
I used to have so many other reasons to hate Portugal (mostly football and ex-job related), now I have the best. Bottle, international night of swill. What exactly makes this a Bock? I don’t homebrew a lager and call it "Mighty Stout". Yellow, horrible skunky taste and aroma. Bad bad bad, surprisingly my first 0.5 of the swill filled night. C’mon Portugal, show some pride!

2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. INoS. Very pale yellow, small white head. Sweet slightly skunky rotting aroma. Flavour is sweetish with a vague wisp of hop bitterness. Nondescript. Average palate.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Beer #13 in the line-up at The International Night Of Swill. The Portuguese must have some strange definition of "Bock" that I’m not familiar with. For that matter, they must have some strange definition of "Super". Colour is light gold. Aroma is soapy and slightly skunky. Flavour is bland and a little unpleasant, with alcohol heat in the finish.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On the whole, not bad for a portuguese lager. It’s got decent strength, which is a good sign for letting native flavors come through. Not the best beer in the world, but far better than any commodity US lager and often available at a similar price.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Clear, pale straw with white fizz that quickly recedes to a thin ring. Some "yellow beer" hops with sweet corny-malt aroma. Skunky flavour with plenty of corn, some sweet, light malt, and detectable bitterness that unlpleasantly hangs on in the aftertaste. Light body, medium carbonation, and maybe a bit astringent.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle: Poured a yellow color lager with medium head and no retention. Aroma is crisp but with some easily detectable skunk aspect to it. Taste is your average macro lager plus the skunk feels that is probably due to transport or storage. I guess this is just another crap lager… more super crap then super bock!

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Slight malty, grassy aroma. Very mild at first, but then the carbonation kicks in. Sweetish, slightly malt, ending slightly hoppy and sweet. Not bad for an adjunct lager, I had much worse.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can. The off white foam is foam at first high, but it dissolves slowly into a light two finger thick head. The liquid is clear and pale yellow.
The smell is pretty strong, sweet and dominated by a dry flavour of dough and white bread.
The carbonation is nice and strong with big bubbles.
The taste is sweet and very malty with notes of white bread, dextrose and some lactose. The flavour is on the whole quite simple (but not bad) with some bitterness and alcohol. The aftertaste is soft and balanced with notes of sweet malt, although it is quite short.
An well done adjunct lager (sugar is added!); this might be a good thirst-quencher for hot summer nights.
