Poured deep dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of peat, dark fruit and roast malt. Full body, flavour as the aroma, reasonably fruity berries, very bitter roast malt.

Bottle. Black. Dark roasty, ashy salty roasted barley aroma. Quite dark intensive. Full bodied, well bittered. Salty ashy again, very dark berries, some licorice, wood/oak, cigars. A dark roasty imperial stout. Not the softest, quite bitter, but at least not overly sweet or oily.Pretty long, bit burnt, finish.

Pik zwart met beige schuim. Ruikt koffie, donkere chocolade en geroosterd. Smaakt hoppig, fruitig, koffie, chocolade. Medium body, vrij veel carbo.

33cl Bottle from Sterk. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malts, yeast, liquorice. Flavour is sweet, quite fruity, prunes, malts, like a rich BSA, some liquorice, some roasted malts, but nowhere near enough imho to be called an Imperial Stout, some alcohol, bittersweet finish. Full bodied. Nice, but not quite what I expected.

33cl bottle. Dark colour. Beige short duration foam. Great aroma to caramel, coffee and alcohol. Flavour to malt, caramel, licorice and coffee and alcohol is quite remarkable. Full body. One of my favourites!

Czarne i nieprzejrzyste, piana kremowa umiarkowana. Średnio trwała, ale koronkuje. W zapachu kawa zbożowa i czekolada, a właściwie nawet zapach likieru czekoladowego. Majaczą też suszone owoce. W smaku pełne, oblepiające przełyk, aksamitnie gładkie. Lekko kwaśne z kontrą słodową (czekoladka), alkohol wyczuwalny i rozgrzewający przełyk. Goryczka stanowczo za niska. W odczuciu bardzo przyjemne. Jest moc, choć kontra goryczkowa byłaby bardzo wskazana! Brakuje też nieco akcentów chmielowych. Ogólnie pozytyw.

Bottle at a big tasting. Malty smell with roasted aromas, chocolate and coffee. Similar taste. Sweet and fruity. Will probably age well.

33cl bottle at home. Pitch black with a small beige head. Full body with low carbonation. Nice sweetness with some bitter tones in its finish. Dark chocolate, brown sugar, coffee, dark fruits and warming alcohol. A nice full flavoured imperial stout.

(La Pirata Black Block) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 11.2% Totally black colour on the body, two full fingers of brown head, thick and with great retention. Thick lacing left on the glass. Nice aroma, some light spicy notes in there, some dark fruits to my surprise, molasses, a bit of liquorice. Weird but nice. Taste is sweet, with prunes, stewed red fruits, chocolate, coffee, molasses, vanilla, alcohol. Full body with just enough bite on the carbonation. Quite sweet all in all but with a sipper of 11.2% like this one, you don’t really notice when you just, you know, just sip it. Nice touch the dark fruits. Pretty good stuff this one.
