Although I'm not afraid to be a contrarian and say when I think I've found a good international lager (e.g. Salva Vida and Tropical come to mind), I couldn't be contrarian with this Aguila even if I wanted to. It's just too lame. Massively fizzy and of a watery nature, this Colombian lager is am embarrassment to the nation that gave us the Medillin Cartel and the World Cup Soccer megaflop of 1994 (Columbia scored an own-goal versus the US and the Columbian scorer was later gunned down for his mistake). I tasted it so you don't have to.

Ever had the experience of being grateful for being invited to a tasting, but left with an empty feeling? At the GABF even with the swill that is present, there is SO much that it can be too much. Well, try a tasting of internationals and you might get lucky. Or NOT. Such is the case with so many that I've tried in one night. Figured I would spell it out as this beer isn't worthy of much of a comment. Bland. I think it may contain water, hops, malt and yeast may have been present. Water for sure. If I was worried while vacationing I might drink it rather than tap water. Understand?

over all not a bad beer, it had no head for a beer with a decent amount of carbanation. It had a watered down gingery taste with a light crisp hoppy finish.

Golden colour with a very fast dissapering head. Mine smells and tastes of very bad whisky mixed with a lot of water.

Light, somewhat flavorful, fairly drinkable. If you like Mexican/South American beers it’s worth trying. I’m not sure I agree with the ’American Standard’ characterization.

Bottle. A golden color with a white head. A crips hop aroma and a fruit tinge to the flavor. A quick easy beer.

The bottle looked primitive a la Poland 80s PN-86. The smell was annoying nothing of any qualities. Very pale look, low on malt and anything else than water. Water with low carb and something else which was quiet weak. Very bland, boring. Does not deserve to be called beer.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2006 Not much to this. Typical "tropical" beer. Light, golden blond and refreshing. Not much body or flavor to it. But I guess it’s not supposed to.
****Re-rate. Bottle. Longneck 12oz versus the picture shown. Though my original rating was a stubby. Pale gold and translucent. Small white head. Nose is sort of skunky but I could swear I pick-up a bit of cotton candy. Corn syrup, light straw and light grainy notes. Taste is a bit metallic and grassy with more cereal or grainy notes and light corny flavors. Body is medium with slightly bubbly carbonation. Bit crisp at the end. Would be a fine "lawnmower" beer. Finishes with more straw, corn notes, grains and light metallic hints. Not bad and typical for the style and area.

Quite crisp; the aroma was the best part. Nonetheless, not very flavorful. Nice golden hue.
