Pale golden color out of the bottle with a stiff white head like beaten egg whites that quickly vanished. Thin watery nose with some hints of malt. This isn’t really bad. Sweet beer with corn syrup, some malt, something metalic, and a watery finish. This would be refreshing on a hot day.

Bottle. A golden color with a white head. A crips hop aroma and a fruit tinge to the flavor. A quick easy beer.

A pale yellow lager with a thin white head. A light mineral aroma with light corn notes. In mouth, a decent South American lager, with a nice little hoppy attack, some sweet corn, but not overbearing. Dáme un´agriá, su merced! Dec. 27, bought at Olimpica, Bogota, 1300 COP.

Smells and looks pretty bad. Interestingly, it was served cold and on ice. Normal lager stuff, but better out of the bottle than on ice for sure.

Another pale lager finding its way into the LCBO. Pours light yellow with a crown of white. Neutral aroma, a bit of malt. Initial swallow is malty, middling mouthfeel. Very undrinkable, a little minerally. Uninteresting.Carbonation a bit aggressive.

12oz can, gift of a friend who visited the area. Some sweet characteristics, crisp and refreshing. A lot better than I expected. A legit mainstream pale lager.. nothing offensive.

Sparky (2129) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 14, 2008
Bottle courtesy of Dankole. Pours a light gold with a 2 finger rocky white head and spotty lacing. Nose is light hops and malt. Taste is pretty much the same with a very dry finish. It doesn’t have that sweet corn taste like most of these types of beers have. Lighter mouth feel. Better than BUD. Thanks Dak – another country checked on the list!

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy, pale golden body with a small bone white head. Aroma is a bit weak with scents of grass, basement and some slight hops and skunks, not bad. Flavor is somewhat sweet with some bready notes. Crisp, easy drinking beer. Bland but with enough decent flavor to reach for another.

First a little history: Columbia is a country known for its cocaine exports and a fictional man named Juan Valdez. Less well known is the fact that they also make beer. Aguila is one of these beers and immediately upon tasting it, you will come to understand why you have not heard of it before. With its creamy white head atop a straw golden colored liquid, it is an attractive brew but the attractiveness ends w/appearances. The aroma is of the faintly hoppy skunky variety preferred by people who learned about beer from billboard advertisements and television commercials but are snobbish about it none the less. The flavor is not at all devoid of character--here is some bready malt character and the sweetness is balanced by a mild hop character--but overall this is a rather light beer even for the style. Aside from the skunk in the nose and maybe a very slight metallic twinge, this is a very clean and easy drinking beer. It is, of course, also utterly forgettable but at least it isn’t painful to drink.
