Thanks to G-Dogs sister for bringing this home with her from Chile. Looks decent, amber towards red with a bubling fast disappearing head. Weird aroma...skunky with some more welknown hop aromas and some caramel. Flavor is quite sour, dont know if that was intentionel but it made the beer more interesting. Had some light sweet caramelic notes aswell. Alright

Nice aroma, malt and caramel. Nice golden color. A lot of foam but disappears quickly. After that, no flavor, no body, and even no bitterness. It’s refreshing, but far from a good beer.

Can From my girlfriend who visited Chile: Pours a watery, lucid orange with a macro fading head. Nose has some sweet pale malt, adjunct and grass hint; a real macro feel to it. Light body with some mild sweet pale malt notes and some husk. There’s very subtle straw in the finish. Not much character at all, but it’s better than their Pale Lager.

Bottle, a clear copper red with a white head. A sweet malt aroma, slightly toasted. A sweet malt flavour as well, but also very grainy. Lightly hopped and a thin finish. Better than the lager though.

Es malisima, pura agua, sin aroma, sin cuerpo, es una cerveza masiva que se debe consumir solamente helada para calmar la sed

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2007 (in can, supermarket in Chile). A red beer, a pale beer to lager with something of color and something of aroma and flavor. It seemed that its Malta will appear at some moment, but it does not happen. It is a commercial beer, that remembers the rice and other thing to me. But this in any market near its house, for those nights in which I am tired.

Bottled. Clear amber, brief corase head. Strong bizarre blue cheese aroma. Sweet with clean, fizzy mouthfeel. Sugary. Dominated by blue cheese and fennel. Low bitterness. Has some substance, but is more bizarre and primitive than good.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2006 So, you hop into the car at the airport and on the way out this huge poster heralds the arrival of a new beer. Cristal red promises more than its well known sibling, which of course is not a lot. It looks ok in the glass with its coppery hue and, for me, a reasonably lasting head. As with many beers, the next steps are downhill from there. Thin cereal like nose with the requisite corn and oaty finish and a dull barely present whiff of malt. The flavour is poor with the gazificada of the ubiquitous con gaz mouthfeel of a local mineral water. Certainly if given the choice I would have chosen a mineral water as well. The texture is thin and weak in most aspects. As for the claim it is an ale I would regard this as marketing over reality, it is a pale lager with a hint of crystal (cristal?) malt for flavour and colour.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2006 Pours a brilliant orange color with a small white fizzy head that shows poor retention and totally dissapears after a minute. Aroma is vaguely malty, very dull and with obvious adjuncts. There are some corny, grainy notes and hints of orange, roses and alcohol. I was expecting something fruity but instead I got a lagerish nose. Not good at all. Flavor is also not really enjoyable, completely lacking bitterness and full of cereal/vegetables character. No hops anywhere. Slightly sweet, not fruity at all and very dissapointing. Bad. The body is medium, showing a reasonably thick oily texture and soft carbonation. Extremely flat, is it an ale? I was expecting much more but the "Cristal" name says something.... Better than its drainpour lager sister but not a good beer whatsoever. It doesn’t live up to its Red Ale name...
