Commercial Description:
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Bottled. Honestly just tallying up a beer from Costa Rica. Better than expected though Probably an average pae lager all the way around but refreshing in warm weather and more taste than the normal yellow, fizzy water.

Bottle. Surprisingly ok. Pretty clearly a mass produced lager, but some interesting honey sweetness and a bit of malt offset an otherwise fairly watery and predictable affair.

Simply put, this is dull corny cardboard with a sweet finish. Terrible and pointless. At least I’ve rated something from Costa Rica!

12oz bottle purchased at Bank’s Liquors in Franklin, DE. Served in a shaker glass. Very pale yellow body with a small pile of foam on one side of the liquid. Smells of corn and apples. Sweet dull flat taste, mostly corn. Easy drinking, but then so is water.

Appearance: Pours a clear, gold body with a thin, white head. Smell: Mixture of pale malts and waterlogged corn kernels with some light floral hop hints. Taste: Weak pale maltiness alongside a sweetish corn flavor. Floral hops imparting a very light bitterness. Grows evermore watery as you race towards the finish. Tiny hint of metal right at the very end. Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: You’ve gotta equally water down your expectations for these lackluster, foreign lager, but even still this was a disappointment.

Pours a clear pale with a small almost non existent head. Smells of tons of corn and not much malt. First sip is corn and more corn with a not much hop presence. Very light bodied and typical of beers from Latin America. Pretty bad stuff…hardly worth boiling hot dogs in.
