COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Malt, grassy hops, and a little skunk in the aroma. Flavor is mild and clean, with sweet malt followed by grassy hops. Nothing special, but nothing bad either.

Bottle. Clear gold with a tall, foamy white head. Aroma is grains and straw. Taste is soft malt, light corn, grains and straw. Body is light-medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Finishes a touch more sweet with more corn and malt notes, straw, light grass and soft grainy notes.

It is what it is. Easy drinking developing world lager. Would happily drink this over a Corona sitting on a beach on a hot day anytime. Some off, metallic aromas as it warms. Drink it cold and quick like it’s meant to be drunk.

Bottle at Zekes on my world tour of pale lagers. Pours yellow with nose of grain and corn. tastes of corn, grass, lemon, grains, and a dried leaf.

Pale clear yellow, decent head (briefly). Malt and grain in the nose, but very subtle. Watery malt across the tongue, almost no finish. Hops????? Will not buy again.

Corn, beans, and plastic aroma. Clear yellow, thin head. Corn flavor, with a light sweetness that doesn’t detract. Harsh mouthfeel. Costa Rica tick!

Aroma is grassy and beery. The flavor is sweetish malts, grains and a bit of hops in the finish. Decent enough.

While it offered a thick foamy head, the pale yellow color looked wtered down. A hevy hoppy aroma anda modest bitter taste that reminded me of beer at college keegers (think Pabst). Bitter, long finish ended this one time taste.

Oh my. What made me try this beer. Better then most American Macros but isn’t that faint praise. I guess it’s better than drinking the water.
