COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Shared bottle. Clear straw, white head. Aroma and taste is that of a typical macro lager. Mild all around with a little bit of skunk.

Aroma: typical bready pale lager aroma; Appearance: clear pale straw with thin white head that hangs around; Taste: follows nose with additional sweet apple juice flavor; Palate: light bodied with short finish; Overall: could be worse, but definitely only drinking this for the Costa Rica tick.

Can pour, half a finger head. Basic AAL smell and flavor. Overall, I liked this beer. I could drink this all day long. Reminds me of Pabst a little bit.

12 oz bottle poured. Huge thanks to my Dad for thinking of me while in Costa Rica! and every other travel destination. Pours a clear apple juice color with no head or lacing. Really odd grain nose here. Skunky i suppose, but different. Flavor is really watery over straw grain. Too watery to have a super offputting flavor profile. Fun try, but a beer that would be probably be enjoyable in Costa Rica, and that’s about it.

Pale yellow medium body moderately carbonated lager without much to commend it. Mild grassy hops taste with a brief finish.

Tried to find use for it as it wasn’t good for drinking. Chicken marinade? Tried it, needed loads of spices to hide the flat corny flavor. Nothing that fire won’t fix? Wrong, chicken flavor was astringent from prolonged exposure this beer. Reset the ratings for this beer. Even for the style it is not good.

Pleasantly surprised. A terrific beer, not too strong, not too light. One of my favorite Central American beers.
