COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Bottle. Pale yellow with very small foamy white head, yeast aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish doughy taste, abrupt finish. Very generic lager.

The most popular beer in Costa Rica. I prefer Pilsen but this one is all right. It goes well with food. Refreshing. Better than many widely distributed beers around the world.

Bottle->shaker. Straw with small white head. A: lager grains and malt, wet grass. T: same, but more subdued and therefore more tolerable. Not terrible.

Kolor - żółty, klarowny. Piana - drobna, średnio wysoka, nie trwała. Zapach - delikatny słodowo-chmielowy. Smak - średni słód, lekki chmiel, nuta kukurydziana lekka, lekka słodycz i goryczka. Zaliczone. Poprawne ale tylko w tropikach.

Golden color, clear; white head - aroma of corn, simple syrup, bread, some hints of hay - taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter - light to medium body, rather oily or creamy texture, soft carbonation - grainy, slightly sweet finish.

Wasn’t expecting much, just needed to tick Costa Rica off of the list. Typical tropical pale lager, light bodied. Would be refreshing if it were a hot day. Didnt taste bad, clean finish.

Costa Ricaanse pils. Mocht iets bitterder. Zwak voorkomen en lichte kleur. Verfrissend.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, Buffalo, NY. A standard caribbean lager; straw with a thin white head; moderate carbonation; a corn syrup aroma and taste; and a touch of lime juice and grassy hops to finish. Not bad, but not exciting either.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2015 Bottle enjoyed in Costa Rica. Corn, grainy aromas. Crisp yet dry, grainy, slight grass, and pils malts in the flavors. Not all that much different than your typical lagers from the States, but very easy drinking and enjoyable during my time in Costa Rica. My favorite of the 3 main beers I saw frequently in Costa Rica - Imperial, Bavaria, and Pilsen.

Tasted this for the first time ~ 1992 during a trip to Costa Rica. It has a nice pale amber color and aroma. It is similar to some American Pilsner beers but with a much smoother taste. There was little or no aftertaste. Very enjoyable. I did some research and found that it was only imported to several states, CA, FL, TX. Just by luck I found it in a local beer distributor in PA around Nov 2012. It tasted that same as I remembered it. Not the best beer I’ve ever had but at the price of ~$25 a case it was worth it.
