2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Puntarenus, Costa Rica: 29th March 2014. Once I had the regular Imperial I wandered over to the beer fridges and opened one up in the random corner bar we were in: inside I found bottles of this and a Pilsen, I grabbed both. Of the three beers this was the sweetest, but like them all it lacked oomph, true flavour/aroma/style/class or character. Just a bog standard thirst quencher in a hot country.

Just about OK if it’s cold and you are very thirsty. Reminds me of Tennents Lager, which isn’t a good thing.

Bottled in Monteverde. Clest yellow, mid sized head. Aroma of corn and sugar. Sweet with light body and hard mouthfeel. Fruity with some boiled vegetables. Low bitterness. Sub standard industrial lager.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Well carbonated pale yellow, ginger ale appearance. Feint, sweet grains entwined with corn in the aroma. Watery body with just a tint of malt flavoring, but this one is has very diluted flavor. Slightly corn-sweet finish, but inoffensive.

Bottle at Driftwood in Jaco Costa Rica. Dark golden color. Smells like miller high life. Rusty malty cheap beer taste. Yet I like just because I’m used to this taste from the college days

The ticas love this beer but I found it to be a artificially sweet mess. My least favorite beer here

350ml bottle. drank this from the bottle so no idea on the appearance. aroma and taste are almost identical to standard imperial. it’s meant to be smoother and more refined but i couldn’t tell the difference. not extremely fizzy, aroma and taste are both of very weak hops.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 ounce can from the candy shoppe at Double Tree Puntarenas Resort. My driver was telling me how bitter this was so, I HAD to try it. Aroma is of sugar cane and corny DMS. Light vegetal hints, too. Not sure what is different about this. Transparent yellow body with a white head that leaves decent lacing. This um, pretty well tastes like nothing. I guess that’s a good thing. Not so much corny DMS or vegetal presence. Just kind of a flavorless, bland, easy-drinking pale lager. Arguably the best beer I have had here, which is pretty sad.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Canned, 0.350l. Clear pale golden color with medium frothy white head and lively bubbles. Aroma of light malt, grains, grassy hops and some skunkiness. Taste starts refreshing grainy and with adjuncts, then followed with sour grassy hints. Mouthfeel is crisp and dry, while aftertaste is mildly bitter and somehow spicy. Light body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. My first Costa Rican encounters - in fact not that bad than some others...
