Very pale golden with lofty, pillowy white head that clumps thickly on the glass. Aroma is awful and loaded with adjunct, sweet, tinny, corny. Mouthfeel is actually quite nice at first with soft eff and barely present late bitterness. Then it devolves; there’s also a terrible solvent quality that scrapes the sweetness right off the palate and persists. Corn and rice husk flavor and quite sweet. Thanks a bunch, Dave. dmac (1449), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Nov 8, 2009 12 oz bottle of macro Import crap. Poured a super clear, super pale gold with an actually decent looking bright white large bubbly foamy head. Aroma was all corn syrup sweetness with some dusty cereal grain. The flavor was so weak that it’s not even offensive it’s simply not there. The body is thin with far too much carbonation. DRAIN POUR but hey one more country rated. noyritus (3), Montenegro does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 1, 2009 See my review of Cerveza Imperial for my thoughts on all the Honduran beers. Port Royal is my favorite, I can’t find it anywhere outside Honduras. It is a favorite of the islanders, however Barena(aka bahia) is the most hip and it’s a goody also like a smoother Corona.
Port royal comes in a green bottle you can find it at any "pulperia" or bar. It’s light yet has a distinct flavor and just has a uniqueness to it that I truely savor. I gave a can to a brewer friend and he said he has never tasted anything quite like it. I bring it back with me everytime I visit Honduras. You can also find it in a special aluminum bottle - or it did for awhile not sure if you can still find them.
A fair Harbor and safe Anchorage!
While your there ask for a shot of
G i f i t i if you can find it - a indigenous drink made by the Guarfinas - make sure you have a traditional orange (not a lemon) handy for the chaser! It’s an herbal liquor that’ll make you feel great, not sure what roots and herbs it is made from the recipe is supposedly sacred. Salud! wimpie133 (167), Brugge, Belgium
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Bottle, nice golden colour, nice bubbles, nice white huge head that lasts and lacing very nice. This is probably the best Honduran beer I drunk: nice grainy and malty aroma and an interesting and little complex taste of grains, malts, light sweet and a light bitter and grassy finish. The overall taste however could be better balanced. Comes very close to the level of Belgian, German and Czech pale lager beers. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Hmmm this has to be one of the best pale lagers out there. Its somehow very complex. Pour is typical of lagers, crystal clear, light gold but has a nice thick white head that stays. Aroma is yeasty, wheaty but with hop notes of lemon, citrus, and floral. Flavor is clean bitter. Palate is refreshing, thin and crisp. No off flavors and not watery...very solid stuff. bhensonb (4263), Woodland, California, USA

Aroma is sweetish with a hint of grass. Rather thin with mild carbonation. Flavor is clean. It has a light sweetness with some grassiness for bitter. Surprisingly drinkable. One of the better pale lagers. Cause it lacks pale lager graininess. Nekronos (2265), Xalapa, Mexico
