Big heavy bottle on location in Santo Domingo. Clear, light yellow beer, nice lacing. Upfront a bit sweet, but nice bitter finish.

Bottle: Aroma is a somewhat sweet and skunky. Pours a orangish-gold with a white head. This beer is rather sweet up front with a apple skunk finish. I’ve never had a beer go flat so fast.

not nearly as tasting or as flavorfull as the King of Dominican Beers, Presidente.

ElGaucho (2033) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAR 7, 2004
Bland, lager aroma. A little off. Hazy gold body with a head that is mostly diminishing and large bubble carbonation. A little smoother than Presidente, which actually hurts it. Enjoyable but not great. Overall, pretty much a drain pour unless you are in the DR, like I was, and there's nothing better to drink. The beer offerings of the Dominican Republic support my theory that bad beer is made in warm climates.

Not a great beer, but a typical lager. Much too heavy to drink in the warmth of the Dominican Republic.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2006 This beer is alright, but not the best from the Dominican Republic.

Oakes (10935) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - MAR 12, 2002
Pale with fine particulates. Aroma: am I sippig beer or harvesting corn? Super-fizzy palate. Like corn syrup in mineral water, with a little Alka-Seltzer for texture. Evil.

Golden. Light bodied, rather dry, clean, some bitterness.
