Pale amber coloured. Medium bodied, bitter. If you’re not giving it too much thought this is a really good bitter, but as a beer geek I find something is missing.

Has a flowery, curranty hoppiness and toasty caramel notes. However, it is very thin for a beer of 6%. This allows it to be quaffed of course, but leaves a bit of an empty feeling when you realize that Wellington Arkell on the next handpump over has a much fuller body and flavour at 4%. That said, the thinness allows the beer to seem fairly hoppy even though the IBUs really aren’t that high at all (maybe 22-26).

On Tap at C’est What, Toronto 14/11/2010 Pale hop aroma. Golden coloured hoppy smooth on the palate and pale with a hint of bitterness in a lasting malt finish.

A golden ale with a thin creamy off white head. A pleasant British hops aroma with nice caramel notes and a bit of butterscotch. In mouth, a nice light English ale with restrained hops, a bit of citrus notes. On cask at C’est What, March 21, 2009.

Cloudy golden beer with a nice creamy white head. PNW hops dominate the aroma. Flavour is fairly simple, caramel malt with a shot of citrus and spice hops. Long bitter finish. Well-balanced and could hold up againt many of the ESBs I drank in the UK. Very tasty.

a good one,a light and flavourful one to get the appetite whetted at that. But its a draft. For a draft it was fresh and refreshing. Light color. Not much head.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2006 May 2006 C’est What Festival of Small Breweries. Had a half pint of this before the fest started and was pretty disappointed. Hazy golden orange, moderate white head. Muted orange, hint of buttery caramel in the aroma. Creamy texture and flavour, light orangey bitterness lacks the assertiveness of what I remember. Average palate is good for cask. I miss the big grapefruity hops. What happened? 6/3/5/3/11 - 2.8 July 2003 Citrusy (grapefruity?) aroma and taste, tart? Nice mouthfeel going down. Pleasantly unbalanced to the bitterness. 9/3/8/3/15 - 3.8

Clear golden yellow with a biggish head for a cask ale, great lacing. Fresh grass aroma with some lemon and black pepper, slight background of citrus. Bitter beginning, dry finish. Nice malt and hop balance. Medium body. Mellow cask ale, served a bit too cold, but drinkable overall.

Draught (cask). At Volo Cask Days 2005. Poured slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma of mild malt, some hops, quite resiny-oily. A slightly tart, resiny sweetness, with some sour citrusy hops to balance. Mouthfeel only average body, a touch astringent. Overall I was surprised how much I enjoyed this - many of the C’est What brews seem a tad thin.
