3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Spab (1195) - Toronto, - JAN 30, 2012
On tap at C’est What. Pours a clear orange-amber colour with small white head. Aroma is modest grainy rye. Flavour also has somewhat light rye with a touch of caramel malt. Light bitterness in finish. Ok, but a little dull.

500ml bottle

I tried this beer on February 20, 2012 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brown, almost black colour (think coca-cola) with a short-lived brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, plums, and coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is very malty, sweet, and very enjoyable. I liked this beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 trapped (161) - TURKEY - JUL 11, 2011
Reddish amber color, off white foamy head, slight rye aroma, rye and hoops flavor, medium carbonation, medium finish. Not bad for an exotic beer.

Pours red-amber with not a lot of head. Sweet and pepperiness mix here. Neither one really lays claim. Couldn’t pick out the caraway. It’s fine though.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DerWeg (1271) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 29, 2010
Tap at brewpub. Red and clear. Very faint aromas. Taste fruit wine and creamy grain flavors, good full texture, like a very sweet ESB, some sticky caramel finish with noble hop, dusty and woody herbal spice.

On tap at C’est What?. Pours a clear crimson amber with a thin white head. Caramel, and a bit of cream soda. I sense a trend here as both this and the hemp beer were piled high with cream soda aromas. More sweetness, a touch of the spicy rye that was missing from the nose. Finishes with a light bitterness.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2009
Draught @ C’est What: Comes dark brown, very little head. Aroma is muted, trying to pull the rye out, getting some malts. Taste is bitter without the desired floral or citrus notes, boring. I’d rather a Raftman if I’m after a rye beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 piscator34 (1644) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 9, 2009
On draft at C’est What. Dark brown in colour with low carbonation. Somewhat subdude aromas of light malt, caraway seeds, and a hint of berry fruit. Flavors are of more caraway, malted rye, and a hint of minty German hops. Quite drinkable, but not quite the liquid rye bread beverage I was hoping for.

Draught at C’est What, Toronto. This beer is light orange, amber with a thin, off-white head. The aroma has some grass in the hops, some toffee, honey, soap. The mouthfeel is fairly light. In the flavour I taste toffee, rye, grassy hop bitterness, caramel, brown bread.
