COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The history of Cesu beer can be traced back to the thirteenth century when a beer brewery was founded right in Cesu castle. The chronicles of the year 1590 present evidence for the popularity of the particular beer brewery at the time. Due to the new factory in Cesis the new beer corresponds to nowadays demands while preserving the flavour of natural beer.

Bottle. Classy engraved bottle. Clear yellow and dry with a sweet finish. Far better than I had expected. Worth trying but don’t go out of your way to find it.

Bottle at home in London - courtesy of the Kris Wines. Pours clear, light yellow with a wimpy, white cream head. The nose carries simple dry doughy pale malts, some metal, hay. Light to medium sweet flavor with cereal, lightly biscuity pale malts, white bread, white sugar, light bitter hay. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Sweet finish, ever so slightly syrupy, with more cereal, dry white bread, faint bitter hay, suggestions of grass and biscuits. Pretty solid pale lager, though just a touch syrupy at times.

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a light frothy head. The aroma is malty and mildly dry, and the flavour is bitter with a malty, sugary and roasted finish. Overall much better than I was expecting, a reasonable malty and dry lager style beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the Baltic Supermarket on the Narborough Rd, Leicester. Gusher- unusual for a clear-bottled lager. My Latvian isn’t too clever, but I think this is also unpasteurised. Brilliant gold with barely a bubble of carb and an uneven tuft of foam. Decent hay and pine on nose; hutch, a little lemon jelly. Pleasant grassy lager with soft condition, bread stick and beeswax notes, rubber hints. Slightly pilsener-like in the finish with a bitterness that lingers. Has that slightly mineral edge I remember all draught Latvian beer having in Riga, irrespective of style. Decent lager.

Good, very nice, but another Latvian lager, nothing special, would need to drink more to get used to it.

Bottle. Pours clear light golden with stable white head. Clear aroma of hop with a grainy note. Hoppy and malty, a little sweety taste. A dryish aftertaste. OK.

50 cL bottle thanks to my colleague Daria for bringing me this! Pours yellow clear with a little white head. Mild malty and hay aroma. Flavour is slight grainy and grassy, but okay with a decent bitter finish.

Bottled. Semi clear golden coloured with a medium sized white head. Malty and feels quite straight and clean. Notes of meal, grain and hops.

Bottle from shop on Rookery Rd, Handsworth. Perfectly pleasant pale lager. Crisp and refreshing with a few herbal notes. The odd moment of plastic corn, but generally hit the spot.
