jbrus (4184), Delft, Netherlands Jun 22, 2002 Very nice hoppy perfume. Amber color, white frothy head, perfect lace, nice tiny bubbles. Very light sweet, hoppy, dry. Short light sour finish. bierkoning (4933), La Tropica, Netherlands Jul 25, 2002 A few years old. Grapefruit and hops in the aroma. Loads of hops and citrus in the taste. Just a bit yeasty and tart. Bit thin. Excellent and delicious light Belgian ale. JorisPPattyn (4500), Antwerpen, Belgium Aug 18, 2004 Light amber beer with slight greenish shine; huge yellow head, dense, collapsing and leaving lace. Initial powerful vanilla-like smell, touch woody and some solvent; then a nose as from grapefruit, and lots of citrussy hops. Bitter taste, but more than just hops. Also some roasted malts and burnt caramel (this characteristic was there already in the original Crombe version - the Strubbe seems more and better hopped). There is a slight-sourish, citrussy component, as much part of the taste as from the mouthfeel. Light bodied. Surprisingly well-hopped, and the grapefruit touch makes me wonder whether these might be American hops... Again! I seem to like the Strubbe version better than the Crombe. I’ll have to try the "Strubbe" kriek after all. Papsoe (10387), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 4, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) This is the original version from "Brij Crombé" in Zottegem. Beautifuly golden with a pretty decent head. Some caramel-like notes, yet rather dry, light-bodied and pleasantly refreshing. An imperial beer indeed... 230297 thebeertourist (1889), Oslo, Norway Nov 20, 2007 Bottle. Hazy amber colour with a small, dense head. Spicy rye bread aroma. Rye bread flavours, quite spicy. Well-balanced sweetness. Somewhat grainy texture, moderate fizziness. Enjoyable and standing out from the amber crowd.
