DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 11, 2008 03-Mar-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 09-Feb-08 for $1.99 at Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley, CA) Having had so many Asian beers that were not enjoyable, I bought this expecting a throwaway, but I admit to not reading the label too closely, else I would have noticed it isn’t an Asian beer. In fact, this beer is pretty good. The initial flavor is very malty, caramely, fruity and mildly sweet, but a more standard pale malt flavor emerges in the evolution and is somewhat balanced by a light-medium hop bitterness and flavor toward the finish. Sweet, fruity and caramely nose exhibits a bit of grassy hops. Medium-bodied and gently carbonated with a dry, balanced mouthfeel in the finish. Very slightly hazy and amber in color. When first poured, a light-tan head builds to an inch in height before slowly receding to a thin layer, leaving significant lacing near the top of the glass. A decent beer. Taverner (483), San Ramon, California, USA Jul 25, 2008 Not bad at all - deserves a much better rating than its getting. First of all, let me say this beer goes great with any Asian food, including Indian. Aroma is caramel malts, bananas, sweet fruit and light yeast. Pours cloudy copper with small tan head. The flavor is caramel malts and fruit - a bit sweet, but still has a nice light bitter finish. Sure doesn’t taste like Saigon 777! ~ This one is ok. Too sweet for me. beerguy101 (3489), Newark, California, USA Apr 22, 2008 This American Pale Ale pours a deep amber brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized fairly dense white foamy head, with nice lacing and good retention. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral and citrusy. Kind of a strange beer for an APA, the malt profile is way caramel and sweet and the floral hops are sort of left behind. There is a almost tropical flavor here, very different, and I am not sure I like it all that much. It kind of grows on you but it is kind of strange. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is a slight bitterness that linger a while. marcus (1055), Sacramento, California, USA Feb 22, 2008 This brown ale (sure doesn’t look pale) poured with a large fluffy beige head that dissipated rather quickly. There is floral aroma and a heavy malt flavor (doesn’t taste like a pale ale either). It’s not a bad brew, but don’t call it a pale ale.
