COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A sweet fruity beer with a definite malty signature. A swirling interplay of malt, hops and a slowly increasing sweetness gives a heavy feel to this mid-brown old ale (GBG 2004).

Cask - Coach & Horses, Norwich. Pint of this before the Norwich v. Leicester game. Poured a deep, dark & clear chestnut with a creamy-foamy beige head. Perfumey, juicy berry aromas. Translates onto the palate, some tang, an OK berry skin & roasty malt bitterness on the end. Soft, moderately oily medium palate with a short-medium length finish.

Cask at the Horse and Coach - my first beer in England! Perfect temperature, deep amber brown. Tastes malty and sweet with a nice roast to it. Good for a cold day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at Coach and Horses, Norwich. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Malty, dark fruit aroma. Tastes of dark fruit, caramel, malt. Pleasant.

Cask at the Coach & Horses, Norwich, 27th Dec 2007. Dark chestnut, with a small head. Caramel aroma leads into a flat, heavy malt flavour. A bit still and flat for my liking. Coats the mouth. The name is not that inviting and ditto the beer.

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Norwich. Deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Full tasting strong ale with some toasty malts, lots of rich dark fruit. Some hop on finish. The best of the Chalk Hill beers I’ve had.

Dark reddish coloured ale with good clarity, but no head. Hop fruitiness in aroma is very light. Taste of dark fruit that turns into a slight bitter finish. Medium bodied (half on cask at The Coach and Horses, Norwich 25.09.2006).

Bright bottled from cask (gravity dispense) at White Cliffs Festival. Dark, mahogany colour with a ruby tint. Caramel and toffee in the aroma, with hints of roasted malt and a slight vinous edge. Fruity on the palate with plenty of Ribena-like blackcurrant fruit. More caramel. A light, acidic bitterness develops in the aftertaste. Not very full - could do with more body. Not bad though, even after a week in a plastic bottle.

Cask @ 13th White Cliffs BF, Dover. 4 February, 2006
Redish/brown with aroma of a mild. Slightly toasted. An average strong mild, to me.
