COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sturdy, medium bodied and delicious, this brew shares the rich copper hue of the fly it is named for. A light charge of caramel malt, which creates the color, is complemented by a blend of American hops that add spice and citrus character. The finish may be in the hops, but you won't forget the subtle toasty character of the malt. Copper John Pale Ale is perfect for relaxing after a day of fishing on the Chama.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of grass and light pine with an earthy grain backbone. Flavor has notes of bitter grass and a slight hint of citrus backed by grains.

Tap @ Chama River. Pours a golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. A bit spicy hoppy, light citrusy, toasty malty, enjoyable aroma. Caramel, light corn, herbal, a bit resiny, citrusy flavor. I didn’t like the corn note to the flavor.

Sampled from the tap back in the brewery with erway, Ted and a handful of others. We tried quite a few others, but I got a decent sized sample of this one. Copper color with a really nice white head. Lots of hop citrus on the nose, and even more in the flavor. Very very hoppy for an APA. The maltiness was all there too. Very Very tasty. Thanks for the fun day guys, it was a blast!

Draught. Pours amber-copper with a creamy off-white head and creamy lacing. Orange citrus rind pine hop aroma, very fragrant and inviting. Bitter-medium hoppy rind grapefruit, juicy malt flavor. Medium to light body and slightly dry palate.

Tap at the Chama River brew pub. Copper coloured with a nice white creamy head. Hops, spices citrus and malts in the aroma. Similar for the taste with some pine flavours evident. Very drinkable, very nice.

Clear orange-copper body and soft, cottony white head. Nice fresh hop nose with floral and spicy qualities and sweet malt notes with a hint of toastiness. Some spruce emerges in the flavor and melds well with the round, lightly-toasted malts. A well-rounded pale ale overall with a significant hop kick. Probably would have passed for an IPA 10 years ago in terms of aroma and flavor. Copper John is a very solid session beer.
