3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 whaleman (2176) - North Wales, USA - MAY 11, 2005
Clear orange-copper body and soft, cottony white head. Nice fresh hop nose with floral and spicy qualities and sweet malt notes with a hint of toastiness. Some spruce emerges in the flavor and melds well with the round, lightly-toasted malts. A well-rounded pale ale overall with a significant hop kick. Probably would have passed for an IPA 10 years ago in terms of aroma and flavor. Copper John is a very solid session beer.

Sampled from the tap back in the brewery with erway, Ted and a handful of others. We tried quite a few others, but I got a decent sized sample of this one. Copper color with a really nice white head. Lots of hop citrus on the nose, and even more in the flavor. Very very hoppy for an APA. The maltiness was all there too. Very Very tasty. Thanks for the fun day guys, it was a blast!
