On draught at the brewpub. Pours an opaque brown color with a frothy tan head. Full body. Rich chocolatey flavors and smooth mouthfeel. Semi-sweet flavor balance. Late, dry finish. No pronounced smokiness. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the source. Deep maroon color, small brown head. Aroma of charred wood, espressompot that’s been on the stove too long. Taste is burnt espresso, bitter cocoa, ash. Decent stuff.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown with amber highlights and a small, foamy tan head. Aroma of mellow wood smoke, chocolate, toasted nuts, and a little bit of peat. Flavor of smoked and chocolate malts, nuts, earth, rye, root beer, and a faint metallic note. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a smoky mouthfeel that finishes crisp. Solid smoked porter.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
tap at brewpub feb 2012-pours almost black with a very lite tan head around the rim of the glass. nose of big char and smoke. smoke is ever present, but never overbearing. flavors are very char almost astringent bitterness (malt husky type) and the smoke under all of it. this is awesome and very robust. long dry char and smoke finish. I would consider this a fantastic smoked porter if you ask me. Well done Justin!
