COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If the river were made of beer, it would run amber. First brewed as the house beer for our Santa Fe based steakhouse, Rio Chama Amber Ale has become a cult favorite. This easy to drink, yet flavorful ale is brewed with a blend of pale, toasted and caramel malts. Its spicy dry hop character complements the malt with a nice balanced finish.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear light amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a grass and bread combination with a grain backbone. Flavor begins with grass and sweet citrus that support a note of bread in the finish.

Tap @ Chama River. Pours a clear, rust orange appearance with a tan head. Kind of bland, herbal, caramel aroma. Quite spicy flavor, almost tastes like they dumped black pepper in. Slightly piney, light citrusy, toasty flavor. Not horrible but who the fuck poured the pepper shaker in the beer?

On tap 4 oz. sampler at Chama River restaurant in Albuquerque, NM. Clear, red-orange copper with off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel, spice and dry hops. Taste of caramel, floral hops, bread and spice with a metallic hint in the finish. Light/medium body and low/medium carbonation. Timid aromas, flavors and body detract from what is otherwise a well-balanced ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Golden amber. Toasty, sweet caramel notes. Low hop rate. Faint aroma. OK, if you’ve had one amber you’ve had this one, too.

Draft @ brewpub. Clear amber with nice lacing. Smells balanced between caramel malts and hops. Pretty nice American amber, actually.

Draft at brewpub. I find amber ales to be a boring style and this one is no exception. Pours brown but that’s the highlight. Not much on the tongue or nose. What a snooze!

Amber with creamy off white head and lace. Light caramel malt aroma. Light caramel, perfumy hops, and bread. Water and thin with aggressive carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber-orange with a thick white head. Aroma of rich caramel malt, fruits, and earthy hops. Flavor of sweet bready malt, light fruits, some bitterness in the finish. A nice malty amber. 7/4/7/4/15 [3.7/5]
