Heavy coffee aroma with some mild dark chocolate notes. Deep black with a fluffed up mocha head. Full and assertive coffee fore, smooth roasty middle and a welcome creamy chocolate finish. Well done brew.

Sweet roasty aroma. Back in color with a solid head. The sweet-roast carries through the flavor and has a clean finish.

Dark brown. Fudgey, with light chocolate aroma. Sweet, soft body. Light fudge accent. Vague tartness late.

Draft @ brewpub. Black with tan head. Cocoa and coffee aroma. Is balanced with mild acidity. Smooth and creamy, nice but a bit syrupy and sweet.

Draft at brewpub. Pours nearly black with an inch of khaki head. A bit of roasted malt on the nose. A touch of lactose on the tongue. Meh!

Brown/black pour with tan head and lace. Coffee and toasted malt aroma. Coffee, toasted malt, and light chocolate. Medium bodied and fizzy.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of rich roasted malt, vanilla, molasses, and chocolate. Flavor of sweet rich malt, light chocolate, nougat. Lots of sweet malty notes. Strong palate for a 6%. Tasty, but it’s on the sweet side of things.

on tap-pours a light brown ring for a head and black color. Aroma is roasty/coffee, dark malt. Taste is ashy, roasty/coffee, dark malt, secondary acidic/earthy hops.

On tap at the brewpub in August 2009.
Pours a near-black color with a small brown head. The nose is of dark roasted malt with a little bit of coffee and chocolate. The taste is the same, but with a bit more sweetness than was evident from the nose. The body is medium and drinkability is good, but not something I’d want too much of.

Draft at the brewpub. Opaque with a nice lasting head and beautiful lacing. Nose is cocoa, caramel, char, and coffee with cream. Flavor is mocha, charred wood, caramel, berries, and a hint of sour cream. Medium body is smoothly carbonated, slightly to the sweet side, but with just enough roasty acidity to be very sessionable.
