3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5026) - La Porte, USA - OCT 9, 2005
GABF 2005: Dark ruby brown with a small tan head and good lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate and dried coffee, prune, pipe tobacco, and walnut. The taste has sweet mocha malt notes witha nutty and light ripe fruity background with a punch of coffee and hop bitterness on the finish, a touch smoky too! The thin feel is a let down. More than quaffable, a session stout.

Sweet roasty aroma. Back in color with a solid head. The sweet-roast carries through the flavor and has a clean finish.

On tap at the brewpub in August 2009.
Pours a near-black color with a small brown head. The nose is of dark roasted malt with a little bit of coffee and chocolate. The taste is the same, but with a bit more sweetness than was evident from the nose. The body is medium and drinkability is good, but not something I’d want too much of.

Draft at the brewpub. Opaque with a nice lasting head and beautiful lacing. Nose is cocoa, caramel, char, and coffee with cream. Flavor is mocha, charred wood, caramel, berries, and a hint of sour cream. Medium body is smoothly carbonated, slightly to the sweet side, but with just enough roasty acidity to be very sessionable.
