Excellent fruity hop aroma, but very little flavor of any kind! Thin body. Light golden color and minimal head.

Aroma is intense pine. Taste is piney hops, some spice, weird bubblegum flavor. Lots of citrus also. Light body, very crisp and slightly bitter with lots of carbonation. Decent stuff.

What a deceiving label. Was hoping for more intense hop profile. This beer is extremely light bodied which is fine for a low abv session ale but it just doesn’t work with the hoping of this beer. The aroma is rather unpleasant which is bad news for a beer they call an "Aroma Hop Ale." I can’t quite place it but something herbally in a bad way with a cheap light beer smell thrown in. At first it is very crisp giving almost liked a pilsner but then the after taste is pure aromatic hop. You get that fruitloopy flavor that only cops from very late hop additions which is nice. Unfortunately it quickly goes away as their is no body to the beer to coat the tongue. The concept is intriguing enough but the execution isn’t there. If it didn’t smell so unpleasant I wouldn’t mind drinking this on a hot summer day but then again there are plenty of better options.

Originally reviewed: 3/31/10. Code printed on the bottle, not sure if I can decipher. Labeled as an "Aroma Hop Ale." Huh. Not sure I’ve heard that one before. Poured into a standard pint glass. Pours a much paler-than-expected yellowish orange. There’s a decent-sized white head billowing out at first, but this disappears quickly, leaving no trace of itself on the glass. Big floral scents coming out of this one! Like the other reviewers said, there is a bit of a fake plastic-y scent that’s a little overbearing at times. Really though, smells like fresh-cut flowers and grass. I like it.
The body is pretty crisp with a moderate-to-high amount of carbonation. Nothing harsh though. The flavor is pretty tame at first. This tastes cheap and thin. Honey sweetness is the dominant flavor I’m getting. Slight sour note in the middle, and the hops are not nearly as prominent as in the nose. Bitterness level is low. I tell you though, I really like the aftertaste on this. That’s why I kicked this up a bit. I really could have a sixer of this no problem. I found this refreshing. It’s a simple beer, but sometimes simple is just right.

12 oz bottle from Sprecher (Glendale, WI). Another entry from their more "Modern" line. Pours a rich amber golden pour, lively carbonation and gentle haze. A touch of deepness in the body as the edges preach more of a golden sunshine. A small frothy whitish head sits atop, dies to a loose film. Small lacing. Aromas are herbal and earthy hops, I immediately get some onion/garlic working in there. Florals, grass, feet. Wow, what an odd aroma. Touches of pale malts, bread, and grain, but that off hop note takes the cake and dominates. Really reminds me of onions. Initial is ok, offering a lighter body with pale malts and earthy malts. Grass, florals, and the onion/herbal quality comes free into the fold. Middle is a touch sweet and bready, pale malts, crackers. Cereal grains and gentle earthy bitterness. Some dry florals, mellow earth, the onion quality sticks. What an odd one. I’ll have to give this another try sometime.. But as it stands this beer has issues. Aroma is the biggest detractor.

I agree with BVery - this was, for me, a pretty terrible beer. Strong nasty evergreen - pine, cedar - taste. not good

Bottle at Cactus Club. Filtered yellow-tan. Thin white head. Buttery up front. Buttery malt aroma, some mild hop tones. Unimpressive, mostly butter flavor. Watered down IPA/APA. Not outright bad, just dumbed down...in an offensive manner. Some piny resin in the aroma. BLAND.
Demands a rerate to numerically smash it..

I had this on-tap at the Sprecher’s Restaurant and Pub in Lake Geneva, WI for $5 in early 2012.
Pours a golden yellow color with about ½ inch of a bubble white head. Plenty of carbonation rising to the top. Has a floral and hoppy scent. Taste is sweet with floral and hibiscus tones that finishes with a nice hoppy after taste. Uniquely grainy that is ultra smooth and refreshing. Not much of a pale ale, but I thought overall it was pretty good.

A golden APA with a thin white head. In aroma, a strange sulfury piney hops, unpleasant, bodily gases. In mouth, a strange piney hops over faint caramel malts, bizarre sulfury notes, spruce, a bit strange. Bottle at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.
