3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour from a 12 oz b ottle. Orange amber brew with off white head. Nice aroma of malt, citrus and pine hops. Taste has a nice malt / rye profile with a fine and complex hoppiness kicking in at the end of the swallow. Average palate. Not an extreme IPA but an extremely tasty one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle fresh from Sprecher brewery. Floral hops, golden yellow body with a generous retained white creamy head. Average mouthfeel, with some astringency, but still a good drinker because of the edge and hop profile. Really bitter as the IBU 73 shows. Must try for hopheads and anyone a fan of the bitter or sour camp.

Tap at the Sprecher tour/reserve tasting. Amber pour with a big clingy white head. Aroma of citrus hop and earth. Medium palate. Big citrus, earth, and rye taste, although it was a bit astringent. Paired with a monterrey jack cheese with morels and leeks - good combo.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the Sprecher outlet in Glendale. Decent beer but nothing I am too excited about. The hops tended to be just bitter with out a lot of hop flavor. Nice color and a little bit of spiciness from the rye. Serving: Bottle

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of graniteskunk. Pours copper with a thin off white head. Smells of rye, resiny, citrussy, earthy. Tastes resiny and grainy with some nice rye hints, some spicy elements and a peppery finish. Nicely balanced and enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to graniteskunk! Pours a golden color. White head. Cascade hops are evident from initial aroma followed by some caramel malt, and light yeasty tones. Flavor is hop forward, bitter, fruity, and finishes a bit metallic.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Beeze Thru in MIlwaukee, WI. Pours a clear golden amber colored brew with a thick creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of both floral and citrus hops, some light caramel malt and a hint of bread crust. Taste is medium bodied, a dry bitter flavor with toasted caramel malt, dry rye malt and some medicinal dry hops. Finish has a continuing dry bitterness that slowly disappears.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This is a dark amber colored brew with a wispy thin white head. The smell is like orange juice with a hint of the rye spice. The taste is fairly spicy with rye and a strong grapefruit kick at the end. The body is fairly light for an IPA. The finish is a little ashy. This is an ok IPA, much better than the other Chameleon beers I have tried.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2011 From the last few ratings it looks like Chameleon is hitting Iowa hard.
Pours a deep orange with a big olí off white head with a nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is soapy and fruity with a good bit of hop character (but not a very exciting bit). The flavor is very centered around the rye grain but has a good bit of soapy hoppiness as well. All together things are not balanced or well incorporated here the hops sort of fight the rye, all the while some sweetness is trying to push through and the bitterness becomes very harsh and out of control at times. I mean itís a bold flavored beer, no doubt but itís not a great flavored beer, sort of a whole not equalling the sum of itís parts going on here. Iíve had too many so-so homebrewed beers that taste like this to really think that this is original or creative. I mean itís very different from other rye IPA beers on the market, but that doesnít make it particularly interesting.
I look forward to a day when I can be excited about the breweries that enter the state, but lately itís just been one after another with these lackluster ones.
