Had a pint of this at Southbound, mostly because I had tired of wine at that point in our foodie day. Poured dark brown to black, a bit on the murky side. Aroma was chocolate, a touch of espresso, and a bit boozy. Flavor matched. Still within the Imperial Porter realm, but edging toward stout. Not bad, but there was something about the malt profile that I couldn’t put my finger on that i didn’t love.

Sampled at Meridian Pint pours a murky black with some creamy, beige head. Nose has a lovely blend of brown sugar and high quality coffee, toasted bread, malt, mild molasses. Quite fragrant. Flavor is superb, brown sugar, a little cakey, chocolate, coffee bean, roasted malts, mild raisin, even hints of black pepper or ancho. Finishes in spectacular fashion, enveloping, long lasting but dry and peppery. A total surprise. Superb.

Draft pour, dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was notes of roasted malts, touch of chocolate, with some elements of coffee. Flavor was pretty tasty - easy to drink chocolate notes, some coffee. Pretty enjoyable. Alcohol was totally masked in this one.

Draft at Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, bitter dark chocolate. The taste is sweet and bitter chocolate, coffee. Very reminiscent of chocolate covered espresso beans. Medium bodied, fair amount of booze. Very nice beer.
