"With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”.

Bottle. Pours a clear and light amber beer with a weak white head. The aroma is malt and hops with grass. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is bitter. Overall a boring and pointless beer.

bottle at Baan Thai in Fort Wayne - Pours pale yellow and fizzy. It has a light, grainy aroma. It tastes of sweet, grainy malt with rice and a little bit of dryness in the finish. It’s light bodied, bland, and quite poor.

Appearance: light gold, no head, no lacing. Aroma: not much; some lightly sweet caramel malts? Taste: again, not much; slightly sweet, slightly grainy. Finish: very short--a little crisp carbonation, then gone. Notes: absolute swill, and I like a good lager. This was not a good lager. At least I can put a pin in Thailand on my beer map.

11.15 oz bottle 7/27/10(Courtesy of RSRIZZO)-52° in Shaker-Pours a clear yellowish golden with a small white ring for a head. Aroma of corn, malt, and sweetness. Taste of the same with a bit of tartness on the back end. This light bodied brew is pretty uneventful.

Pours light golden with a fully receding off-white head. Notes of sweet biscuit, light crackery malt, bready yeast. pretty good for a pale lager. Light bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle at thai restaurant. Pale lager, less taste, light to miedium bodied. Nothing special, maybe the bit of dryness.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent light orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was buttery and lagerish. The semi-thick mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild lager. Not one that I would likely drink again.

I keep asking myself, "why do you keep buying the foreign lagers"? I always answer myself with, "I don’t hate them". I also find it funny that it seems every beer has won a medal from somewhere. I guess I could give away one from my neighborhood to the winner of six beers tasted. Maybe that is how "Chang" won its medal???

Pale straw color. Bready aroma, no hops. Medium-high carbonation. Flavor is nice breadiness with a little sweetness to finish. Actually a decent brew.
