Chang was made with the vision of the top executives to expand the beer market with a Thai taste albeit with international quality, to give the consumers an alternative with the fervent belief in the brewing and production capability of the Thais. With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Beer Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”. Since then, Beer Chang has become known as “the international Gold Medallion winner beer of Thailand”. Note: alcohol content may vary

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2013 640ml bottle at a restaurant in Thailand. Yellow/straw colored body. Tiny white head which disappears almost immediately. Has a hint of rice flavor to it. I don’t know what they do to this one, but it gives you a major (C)hangover. :P

Bottle 0,33l. Pours a golden color with a medium white head that diminish and leaves almost no lacing. Aromas of sweet rice and grass. The taste is sweet, with a hint of bitter grass. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

was in thailand and preferred chang over singha. taste was lighter than the 6.4% as advertised. good breakfast beer, not overbearing in taste and aroma.

Light cloudy yellow with white foam. Aroma is a light fruity hop. Taste is what us call a light lager with a sort if fruity essence. Almost has a summer ale character. Moderate palate. Unusual beer. Nothing exciting but ok. Might be better iced cold on a hot day. More beer please...

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2013 This is as bad as its rival Singha beer. But I did have a good laugh reading the style for this beer that was given above. Malt liquor - yeah, sure!

An odd beer I would rate quite poorly back home but in the humid heat of an open bar in Thailand this one does something water just can’t. Found it odd as the alcohol on each beer I tasted was clearly up or down. Some had a fine texture and balance, clean taste and delicate crispness while others were heady, hazy in appearance and had a fusel alcohol burn to them. Judging this was strange so I’ll generalise. Tinny, honey malt nose with hints of pear drops and lemon candy. Appearance anywhere from beautifully clear yellow gold, to chill hazed, to generally hazy. Head was always a hit and miss also. Often, yes this one I consumed in great quantity, I found the canned version the most highly diverse. The taste similar to the nose. Honey malt, light hop, light metal, gassy from the CO2, refreshing given the climate. A turn your brain off completely beer. Well suited to Thailand!

Yellowish appearance with thin, frothy head. Decent taste though the chemicals are obvious. Fizzy taste with a hoppy flavour. Strong. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from beachfront store @ Koh Phi Phi. Bought as a change from the inevitable Singha and frankly, I liked it much better. It pours clear gold with a fairly thick white head. Nose almost non existent, maybe a bit metallic, but that could be the ice cold can. Taste is full (6,4% ABV) with none of the artificial flavours in Singha, maybe a tad bit sweet. Pretty good for an Asian beer.

(Can, 0.33 l, kindly given me by mto, 20120828) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized, very fizzy and it disappeared quickly. Aroma had sweetness, metallicness and booze. Palate was light bodied with very high carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, metallicness and light bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, a bit grainy and weakly bitter. A beer that almost completely lacks beer flavour and and aroma. Would have horror tick potential with even higher ABV.
