Like all Chapeaus, corked, then crowned, in a green 12.7 0z bottle. Appearance: clear, bright apricotty hue, bubbling with carbonation, and a brief white head atop. Aroma: a bit thin, but full of apricot. With De Troch, there’s no fooling around, what you see on the label, fruit-wise, is what you’re gonna get. Straight up, no fooling. On the palate: very mellow, very light, though tingly with carbonation. Only a touch of tart occasionally intrudes. Flavor is excellent, light sweet, fruity. Perfect dessert beer, made for coolin’ out after piggin’ out!

Light apricot aroma but mainly too sweet. Dull amber hazy with white head. Watery with soft carbonation. Weak fruity watery lambic, not much apricot flavor. Fake sweet cereal after.

Orange with no head? Is this a beer? Really it looks more like McDonalds Orange drink to me. It’s sweet and smooth and certainly tastes of apricot but not really the dominant taste. Moreso honeyish. Maybe I got a really good bottle compared to others?

Orange-amber w/ slight sugary glaze. Thin white head. Sweet candy-like, artificial apricot aroma w/ notes of honey & wet leather. Sugary feel. Sweet, cloying artificial apricot flavour w/ a mild tartness in the finish.

Dark amber colour. Smells very bad; rotten apricot. Tastes a LITTLE better. Drainpour.

Dirty-hazy brown with greenish shine; dirty brown slim head. Absolutely disgusting, off-putting nose like rotting vegetables in an equally rotting cardboard box. Faughhh! Thank God it doesn’t taste rotten as well. In fact, it’s like sugarwater flavoured with a slight sourish tinge that is vaguely reminding of citric acid. Nondescript fruity flavour, end is like very poor faro. Light bodied, slight slick texture. I would love (well...) to say that this might well be a bad bottle. Seen "Chapeau"’s reputation, I doubt it.

Amber, golden colour. White head, instantly diminishing. Sweet apricot aroma and dito flavour. Typical De Troch beer.

I would love to have access to market/consumer reports for this company. Like, what percentage of customers are repeat customers? And, what is the profile of their typical drinker? Amber/golden with a lasting ring of carbonation; far fewer floaties than other Chapeau beers. Woody, cork aroma, some lambic qualities, with a sweet fruitiness, not overwhelmingly apricot (a cheap port has some similarities). Sticky, sweet palate, with tons of sweetness the whole way through. None too graceful; flavors of lipstick, apricot, peach and wood. Not really very enjoyable--just too sweet, and that’s from someone who loves sweet drinks (port, etc.) Not sour in any remarkable degree.

golden orange color with a white head. The taste is light fruity notes and water. Boring beer...
