At Maakun’s. Pours a straw golden cup of joy. Smells of dried apricots sugar and dusty cardboard. Tastes mostly the same with the addition of a weird boozy sherrylike touch. 1 up for the master blend. Funky funky stuff, for the freaks.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle shared at home. Slight hazy golden with small white head. Mainly unfermented wort, sugary, very dusty, dry cellar, light hay, maybe some apricot skins but I don’t get much fruit actually. Quite sweet and light sour. Medium bodied. Pretty bad.

375ml bottle. Pours a clear, golden orange with a small, fully diminishing, off-white head. Sweet aroma of apricots, oak and a hint of wheat. Sticky, sweet flavour of apricots, sugar, oak and straw with a slightly dry, sour finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not great.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled from a 12 oz corked green bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left decent lacing. The aroma was musty, dryish, a hint of cardboard and a bit of apricot jam. The flavor was sweet and tangy apricot jam, sugar and yeast. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Quite tasty!

Biertje is niet al te zoet wat hem goed doordrinkbaar maakt. Fijne smaak van abrikoos.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bue en bouteille de 20cl chez Will, couleur blonde, mousse peu présente et effervescence moyenne, une bière avec une attaque sur le sirop d’abricot, continuité sur l’acidité du lambic et fin de bouche ultra sucrée !

*Old rating, best before 11/05/14. Nettes fruchtiges nicht zu süßes Bier. Leichte Säure im Hintergrund, frisch, schöne weiche Aprikosen-Noten, nett.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
250 ml. bottle @ home. Obtained from Dranken Geers. BBF 23/12/2015. This is the last beer I still haven’t tried until now from the Chapeau brand. Lightly hazy golden, bubbles only on the sides. Nose is chemicals, huge artificial sweeteners mixed with chemical sourness that could almost be mistaken with minor funk, there is a huge sweetness here which is pure sugar mixed with something that could be interpreted as fruit, I am more inclined to say candied mandarin than apricot. Taste is all chemicals, huge bang of sweetness, hard to pin fruit which makes me think heavily of fruit slices candy as opposed to actual candy, lots of sweeteners with reveal a faint & typical chemical sourness to them that is always common to them, lots of sweetness. Body is chemcial & sugar + sweetener loaded. It isn’t offensive like some sweetened / chemical beers, as a soft drink it is even mildly enjoyable. The clear use of lambic on the front label is an insult to the style & heritage of it.
