A diffuse blonde with a white head. Aroma of banana bread and nail remover. In mout, a sweet aple and banana in mout, with very light acidity. Not bad, not good. LCBO offering.

[479-20070801] 250mL. Mostly mushy banana aroma with some light acetone and wheatie grain characteristics. Clear, light orange brown body with a quick bubbly white head. Very sugary syrupy sweet banana flavour. Medium body. Overly sweet, definitely not your typical beer.

Bottle (250ml). Clear pale gold, small spotty-looking frothy head that leaves quickly. Smell - banana - ripe banana, the kind that attracts fruit flies even if you’re eating it in orbit - oh, and sugar. I don’t really like bananas much, but I can almost see the black spots on these ones. The taste is .... holy crap, that’s weird! lemon juice, sour, acidic lemon juice, with overtones of banana, and it finishes sort of woody and bitter - really odd, but I sort of liked it. Watery, fizzy, sharply acidic, syrupy and there’s a vegetal whisper at the end I don’t like. Tastes pretty interesting though.

Bottle from the LCBO. Slightly hazy golden with a tiny white head that disappears pretty quickly. Aroma of those marshmellow banana candies I used to like as a kid (yeah, you know the ones I mean), mixed with a slight lambic funkiness. I gave it to my wife to smell without telling her what it was, and she got notes of strawberry, melon and kiwi - maybe they’re in there, but I mainly got the banana. Body is sticky, not very refreshing. Flavour tastes more like real banana than the candyish aroma suggests, quite sweet off the top, with a pleasant tartness peeking through in the finish. This really shouldn’t work, but somehow, it doesn’t completely suck! Still not something I could drink a lot of, though.

The aroma is sweet with banana candy, tea, and sugar. The appearance is golden with a thin head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall it’s pretty good.

Bottle 250 ml
Appearance :Slightly hazed ale with light golden tea like tint to it. Minimal top with sporadic carbonation.1+
Nose:Sweet bready, acidic of rye dough, rich over-ripe esters of banana.
Flavour/Palate: Very thin, sweet banana annotation with calcium pill like acidicity. Unpleasant finish. Off sweetness, unbalanced crazed theme. Flavours don’t blend well at all leaving almost undrinkable drink for you.

I know I’m ’posed to hate this beer, but I found kinda enjoyable. I like the concept even if the execution isn’t great: way too flat, and the lambic-ness is not obvious, but it manages a decent balance of sweetness and tartness. Kinda lame, but I didn’t find it as terrible as some of these tough guys.
