3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2011
Originally rated July 2007. Purchased at the LCBO on Rideau street. I like how they get a new kind from this brewery every year. Comes in a small 250ml brown bottle, and this one had the best before date: 22/03/09. Pours a clean golden-bronze colour with lots of carbonation. The head is white, creamy and has big bubbles of all sizes. It leaves a small coat over the brew, and some decent lacing. The nose is totally all banana, but surprisingly, smells like real bananas and not an essence. Watery mouthfeel with little grip. You really taste the lambic in the taste. Mild banana flavour at first, but goes into the sour-lambic aftertaste with a small amount of vinegar. Very nice different fruit lambic, that I could enjoy from time to time.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 OleR (3510) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 24, 2011
From bottle @ Brouwerij De Troch. Low white top. Deep yellow body. Smells like Banos (those small banana chocolates filled with an artificial, barely chewable banana foam). Taste is perfumed and soapy banana. Yes, we have no bananas.
2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Benzai (2298) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 15, 2011
Light color, no head almost. Smell is bad, kind of a banana gone sour. Taste wasn’t as bad as I expected though.
2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Roger939 (2) - Etterbeek, Brussels, Belgium, BELGIUM - JUN 12, 2011 does not count
Almost no head, liquid is yellow in color, very banana nose and taste to the exclusion of any other tastes. No tartness just sweetness. I prefer lambics that offer a balance of sweet and tart. If you want to drink a banana, this is for you. If you want complexity, this is not for you. But it might be useful in a reduction for a dessert sauce.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 77ships (744) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUN 4, 2011
bottle@’t Waagstuk: wow, this is much better than I expected it to be, basically this is just banana juice which is a good thing as far as I am concerned, clear banana colour with basically no head, taste is sweet with lots & lots of banana bubblegum, juice & candy sugar, light malt/juice body with not much carnonation
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 PorterPounder (3944) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 4, 2011
Tallahassee, Fl - Fermentation Market - capped and corked 12 oz bottle. Pours a sheer light golden with some floaties. Odd, slightly stale aroma, pick up some amaretto notes, a hint of corn syrup. Flavor is sweet and sticky, not very reminiscent of bananas. Picks up some brief amaretto notes, a brief hint of artificial banana flavor, sugar water, not much else. Mouthfeel is sticky, slightly artificial feeling.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 larsga (4435) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 30, 2011
Medium white head. Yellow body. Intensely perfumy banana chewing gum aroma. Sweet-dryish banana candy taste with soft drink notes. No complexity. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Sweetish banana candy aftertaste. Awful. Horrible. (Taster at the brewery shared by geokkjer.)
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Kristall-König (1552) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011
1 Glas reicht dennoch. Test vom 22.2.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche
