dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Nov 17, 2008 hazy yellow body, nice white head, moderate lacing. aroma: bananas!! with a hint of malt. frizzy sour flavor with huge banana hits and a suggestion of spice. light bodied with a sour dry finish. not unpleasant, but not very palatable, either. does the name mean ’banana hat’? my french is a little rusty. thanks to cornfield for providing this sample. PaulHegedus (459), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Sep 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden yellow, headless. Aroma is heavy in the banana spectrum. Strange to taste a beer that is flavoured with banana, rather than holding indirects hints of banana. I appreciate that this tastes in many ways like real fruit, and not sugared flavouring. Genuinely strange. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle from Edelweiss in Portland, OR--Poured a golden pale body with a big frothy white head. Big banana nose. Flavor was too sweet for the banana aroma. Slightly sour and cloying in finish. The variety of flavors didn’t mesh well together. But, what did I expect from a flavored banana brew? Answer: more than what I got. luvpnkflyd (10), Kokomo, Indiana, USA Aug 24, 2008 I am absolutely in love with this beer. It is very sweet and tastes almost like a banana Laffy Taffy. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 14, 2008 I had to give this weird beer, picked up in Belgian, some thought. It Doesn’t smell like beer, or really look like beer, or taste like beer. But it does what it is supposed to do quite well. It tastes like banana mashed up with honey. While nothing I will try again, it was a tasty dessert for my meal. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 19, 2008 Bottle, 3.5%. Sour banana aroma. Almost clear colour, very small white head. The flavour is quite acidic, with some banana. thewolf (5662), Kolding, Denmark Jun 19, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Vinspecialisten, Kolding Storcenter.
Pours pale golden with a slight, frothy, white head. Aroma is heavy of overripe bananas and very light funk. Okay, lively mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, heavy banana with a light tart funkiness as well. It is far too sweet, but actually acceptable. LaClayton (3), Pelham, Alabama, USA does not count Jun 15, 2008 If I am honest this is not your typical bread and butter lambic nor is it what you would expect from a beer however, this is just a fun campy exotic drink. If you give Elvis props for his style with Banana and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, If you like Bananas Foster as one of your favorite deserts and if like getting a buzz, then this is your decadent desert yummy boozy friend. historically I have yet to find a better pairing of booze and bananas two of my favorite B words. Aroma is synthetic, the head is high in carbonation, the color is a bit mealy and the flavor does knock this out of the beer category with it sweet tart candy runts vibe... but for a fun DRINK with Bananas....go here.
