Jeppe (2634), Ølbutikken, Denmark Dec 22, 2006 This gueuze makes me mad, because it shows that De Troch actually can make good beer. But instead of making it widely available they pour sugar, fruit syrup and other stuff in it to ruin in and make it drinkable for people who doesn’t like lambic. What a waste. Slightly hazy light golden colored, fizzy white head. Really nice aroma of wild fermentation with a well balanced grapefruity sourness and a tone of barnyard. Actually very nice, had it been a little more powerfull, would it have gotten a higher score. Excellent and actually very tart flavor with penetrating lemon notes that gives a nice freshness plus a dry woodyness that makes the balance almost perfect. Biding and sharp, wow I’m really surprised by this!! It might not be the greatest gueuze I have had, but it is up there among the top ones. DE TROCH, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? (can’t wait to taste my rabbit in gueuze tonight that got the rest of the bottle :-)
JoeMcPhee (3612), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 15, 2008 A generous gift from beastiefan2k, many thanks Eugene. Initially pours very clear and golden with a thick white head. Aroma is full of musty cork and rich cheesy funkiness. Fairly citric and tart aroma with lots of brett and horsey stink. The flavour is not quite up to par with the aroma however. Sort of papery and cardboardy with a very thin body. Light pineapple/citrus fruitiness. When I pour the sediment in, the impression of body is created. Richer and fuller tasting with more funkiness apparent on the tongue. Quite acidic and funky. Pretty solid really... just make sure you give this one a swirl before you pour it. FrankJohansen (2545), Sabro, Denmark May 30, 2008 Bottle. Clear golden colour with small frothy head. Sour, acidic aroma. Sweet taste taste with a grapy finish. Dedollewaitor (1742), Odense, Denmark May 19, 2008 Bottle at Aarhus beerfestival. Pours golden with nearly no head. Aroma is fruity (apple) & sour. Tart, citric & dry. Leather & grapefruit. Quite good Gueze! thewolf (3180), Kolding, Denmark May 18, 2008 Bottle @ Aarhus, 2008.
Pours light hazy golden with nearly no head. Aroma is rather fruity, good tartness, some apple notes and citric tartness. Okay, rather dry mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasantly tart, citric, good apple, great dryness. Some slight off-flavours around, but otherwise a fine gueuze.
